Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angel Beck. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angel , appreciate you joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
In my profession, there are a lot of heartwarming stories and testimonials from my clients. Clients that cant get pregnant due to weight and hormonal issue then able to. Adult senior clients from being novice and cant hardly move to be able to hike. Veterans who have a lot of injuries and later can move properly. But one story that touched me was when I met my client Richard. He was a veteran and a retired professor. He fell and injured his back , shoulder, hip and leg and the doctor told him that he will never walk again and was practically bedridden. He was devastated and refused to believe it and forced himself to go back to the gym. When we started training he was having a hard time and cant reach down , cant straight his back, and more issues. One day, he dropped his keys to the floor and he picked it up, then he realized that he just picked up his keys all the way from the floor! He was thrilled and happy about it. He can walk faster and his pain diminished. He was so thankful and proud of him self. Since then we’ve been training for 3yrs already.
Angel , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Im Angel Beck a certified personal trainer, certified group fitness instructor and a nutrition coach. Prior to fitness I was a professional dancer, choreographer, cheerleader and an academic teacher in Philippines. Opportunity knocked and got a job offer in Muscat Oman to be a Dance teacher and gym instructor. I was skeptical at first as I don’t have fitness experience but they assured me that they’re gonna train me for the gym work as long as I teach dance classes like hiphop. Since I want a new adventure and experience I accepted the offer and flew abroad to work there for 4 years. I fell inlove on fitness and the rest is history! Now here I am, in USA and so thankful that I have a job that feels like I’m in a vacation and just having fun.
As a fitness professional I help clienteles on achieving their goals not just physical but as well preparing them mentally and emotionally as fitness is uneasy journey to take, expect disappointments and fall backs. Also, aside from being a personal trainer I am as well a nutrition coach and give client advises on their nutrition and diet to incorporate their workout.
Clients have different goals , personalities and from all (different) walks of life. And one thing about me is I’m versatile and can work with anybody and can train them anything as I teach in different formats.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If i can go back, yes ill choose the same profession and wont change anything. Im so proud of who and where I am today . I have met a lot of people and became part of my life who helped me become the person I am today so no, I wont change anything..
Have you ever had to pivot?
There are many times that i had to turn around and start all over again. I had to move from one country to another and have to rebuild my name and brand. It scared me at first and full of “ what if “ but I did it and succeeded and because of this I’m not worry in starting all over again. I want this to be an inspiration to everyone that starting from the scratch is indeed very scary . Just trust your instinct , the process and your capabilities and it will lead you to the right path.
