Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ángel Ángel . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ángel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the most important decisions we have decided to make in our professional life has been to undertake our personal projects and dedicate ourselves full time to each one of them. I know that at the beginning there are many questions about whether it is a good idea to give up a secure job, but in our case, the need to feel free, autonomous and wanting to forge our ideals, allowed us to do so with confidence and security. Really, the risk is everywhere and in any circumstance, we made a decision based on the plans and objectives that we wanted for our lives.
When you are ready to carry out that project that you are passionate about, and you know that it is important to give it your attention in order to grow it, share it and take care of it, it is vitally important to consider that at the beginning you may experience nerves, frustration and even uncertainty because you do not know if what you’re doing is really a good idea.
Although sometimes we wish that everything was just about being creative and talented, studying and knowing the market to which you are going to direct your idea, brand and product also has a lot of influence.
Every time we want to launch or present something new, it requires an evaluation, we consider the favorable and unfavorable points, in addition to the question of how much interest it will cause to the consumer.
What we have created has not been an occurrence that was born overnight, they are ideas, dreams that materialize in due time. Doing everything under pressure or with desperation, from our point of view, does not always give good results.
That is why it is important that when you are ready to start your own project, you can consult with people close to you. You can start with family, your partner and friends.
Receiving feedback is important to refine what you have in mind and give it a good development.
It is part of the experience itself, if you never take the risk, you will never know if it was a good or bad idea.
And if it doesn’t work out, nothing happens, surely there are always ideas to keep trying.
Imagination is endless!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Our project is an independent cultural space that promotes traditional Mexican gastronomy or cuisine through workshops, meetings and cultural exchange experiences.
We are big promoters of our culture, and the best way to carry out our work is through this type of activity.
Here we are visited by cooks and artisans (mainly women) from indigenous communities from different parts of Mexico. They come here to share with people about their customs and the knowledge they have about life.
We started on this journey as a result of developing our own brand of sauce based on dried chilies, known as salsa macha. Between all the trips that we made to investigate, and to dive deep and inspire ourselves… it happened that the cultural richness of our travels would concentrated deep within us, in our passion, and each trip was always an adventure, a life lesson, always something to reflect on and of course that tranquility of being in such quiet small towns made us feel at home.
That is how we began to consider the idea of some day we could also have a similar lifestyle, simple and straightforward, away from the noise and stress of the city, only in the temperance of appreciating living each day at a slower pace. We ended up discovering that it is precisely there where we began to understand what true wealth is..
Finally, after a couple of years of distributing our product in small establishments in Tijuana, the idea of moving to the countryside and starting this project of cooking workshops with a cultural focus came up.
The response has been wonderful from the people who visit us. For the fact of having contact with nature, being silent, going out to collect firewood for cooking, learning about dishes that have accompanied our gastronomy for many years.
It is the result of connecting with the memories of our family and the legacy of its cultural past.
Recently we were invited to be part of a book that brings together information from traditional chefs, as well as researchers and cultural promoters of our Mexican cuisine. Said publication makes a tour of all of Mexico, and for us it is of great pride to be part of said publication, in which mention is made of our place “La Casa de los Cirios”, a space in Tecate Baja California that promotes the value of Chile , Cacao and Maiz through cooking experiences.
Without a doubt, all this has been thanks to the people who support us and come here to come and learn and have a pleasant time.
Every day we have new plans and ideas to continue growing, and thus be able to share with more people from all over. Recently a group from the United States and Canada visited us, they were very happy with the experience they had with us. One of the girls expressed her love for the culture of Mexico and how much she felt grateful and happy to connect with our culture. Likewise, one of the boys shared his taste for the traditional cuisine of the original peoples and his participation throughout the workshop was surprising as he allowed himself to roast and peel cacao, grind corn to make tortillas and learn about the varieties of Mexican chili peppers.
As you can see, sharing what we are doing is allowing us to reach more people of other nationalities and that fills us with great satisfaction.
Very soon we will also be doing activities with children and teenagers who want to come and learn about our gastronomic culture.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think there is a generation of people who are more open to learning about the uses and customs of other places. Although the pandemic was a situation that caused us a great economic and emotional impact, I know that many people also began to worry much more about their health, food and the way they are produced, as well as the importance of visiting in family places to appreciate nature.
I see how many people are interested in being able to build a small house in a forest and thus be able to enjoy the calm without the stress or worry of the city. The interest of some people in learning to grow their own food has also grown.
For us that is very significant and I know that this is only going to become more and more popular.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Learn to live each day lighter without feeling frustrated or repressed for always longing for the unattainable.
The mission is that, getting closer to the simplicity of being.
