Today we’d like to introduce you to Angana Sinha
Hi Angana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
About Us
I grew up in Mumbai, India. It was a crowded city within a crowded country. Within even that, I had my tiny world made up of people; my friends and family, and my interests; psychology and art. I fell in love, got married, and moved to the United States. I had a baby and lived through a pandemic.
On a seemingly ordinary day, my six-year-old asked me to put henna on her hands. There was no occasion, we were just having fun. Soon, I was applying henna on close family and friends to reconnect after being separated by the pandemic. The designs were all incredibly personalized, from favorite animals and flowers to symbols of memories or loved ones. These turned into dedicated nights of wine and henna–and most importantly–quality time.
Henna is many things to many people. Traditionally, it is used to create elaborate designs for important occasions and ceremonies. To me, it is a way to connect and create something meaningful, something that transcends cultural boundaries. The temporary stain serves as a reminder that nothing is permanent, but there is beauty in the short term.
At Henna For Fun, our goal is to connect people through the art of henna, no matter your skill level. We specialize in helping you discover your zen and celebrate life’s moments with our expert-led henna events, pregnancy henna, and private lessons. Whether you’re organizing a baby shower, planning a team-building activity, or just looking to try something new, henna can enhance any occasion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not an easy journey, but my mission is to make henna as accessible to everyone as nail salons are. I also want to teach people the beauty of this art form. The biggest challenge is that while many love getting henna, few consider learning it. Teaching henna is a passion of mine, and I’m eager to share it with anyone who’s curious! A big part of the challenge is that many people aren’t aware that they can learn henna or don’t think of it as something they can learn, just like any other art form.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an educator first and an artist second, I’m dedicated to making the ancient art of henna accessible to everyone. What sets me apart is my mission to teach this beautiful tradition, allowing people from all walks of life to learn and appreciate its intricate beauty.
In a bold move, I’ve revolutionized the mehendi ceremony—a cornerstone of Indian and South Asian weddings—by transforming it into an interactive and fun experience. No longer just about the intricate designs, my approach turns the mehendi ceremony into an opportunity for guests to connect, for families to bond, and for everyone to enjoy the joyous occasion.
Affordability is key to my philosophy. My services are priced to ensure that everyone can incorporate henna into their celebrations. This not only makes the tradition more accessible but also gives couples the freedom to invite more guests and host larger, more inclusive weddings. The result? A cost-effective yet unforgettable experience that blends tradition with modernity, making each wedding truly unique and memorable.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I have learnt is that my business is not for everyone. its important to find quality over quantity.
