We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aneessa Gray a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aneessa, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Sine I was young , I loved entertaining . I love making people smile and laugh.in the beginning I battled with really taking it serious , due to the small chances of making it . However I could never stay away from music and eventually decided to just give it my all.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Im an artist , born and raised in New York. I write my own material and have a versatile sound . I have loved music since I was a child , I use to study videos and pretend to be the artist . I would master the lyrics and dance moves. I create music that has the ability to relate to the masses. I’m most proud of how far I have come and the feedback given by strangers when I perform. It means a lot to me that I am able to get the attention of people who don’t know me and they feel what I’m saying enough to stay engaged from the beginning to end.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The book Shoe Dog by Phil Knight . It has motivated me to perfect my craft . It broke down the history of Nike . They are the company they are today due to their drive and consistency. No matter what they faced they never gave up.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Give people a chance . Society has based the number of followers to talent . Which isn’t fair , there alot of peopl over looked because they put their time into their craft and not social media
