We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andyy Aiesha a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andyy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path was when I was a young girl, I would say about 12 years old. I was obsessed with photography so my mother eventually ended up buying me a camera to use and I really got into creating visuals from then! I would hop on my computer and use Photoshop and create cool edits and everything. This was like 2007.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well I got into the modeling industry very easy I would say, living in Miami, there’s opportunities everywhere. My first fashion show was in the middle of the mall, I even shot my first video at 13 years old. It’s one thing in my life that I would say flows very naturally and is very easy for me. My greatest accomplishment when it comes to the modeling industry would be my first magazine cover that I recently got with Malvie and Magazine from France. I started a clothing brand recently, it was on my mind for a while, but I finally just took a leap of faith and put in the work to get it done. What sets my work apart from others, is that the T-shirts feature women on them, in a kind of explicit or NSFW fashion, so for people who don’t like to stay in the box and like to turn heads, my shirt is definitely for them! Something I am most proud of, is actually having people purchase and support my brand, since my very first drop on day one it has always been one of my greatest accomplishments! Way more exciting than ever any music video or project I have ever done in the past, honestly.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
What society can do in my opinion to better support artist and creatives, is actually support the artist and creatives! There’s so many locals who offer everything from clothing to art. But most people only embrace what is “popular“ you know which is usually the same old expensive designer brands that has already made billions of dollars off of us. There are awesome brands and businesses right here in our very own city, but people look past them every day. To support creative actually support the creatives!
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to be successful off of my creativity, that is driving my journey at the moment. Because I know I can do it!
