We were lucky to catch up with Andy De La Vega recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Andy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?

The reason why we decided to wrap my car as Lightning McQueen is because of my son. In October 2020 there was an activity at his school and because of the pandemic we were only able to decorate the car and do something in the parking lot, that’s when we came up with the idea and decided to do it. The activity was a great success, all the kids and teachers went crazy and after that driving the car around and just looking at the reactions of all the people was a great feeling. We started to get messages and people telling us that we made their day with the car, that’s when we realized that we can bring joy with this car during difficult times.
After that we decided to improve the car, to make it look even better and started in social media, that’s when one of our videos went viral, we got a lot of messages on social media about moms telling us how their kids love the car and some very emotional moments that we didn’t expect. Those reactions and messages encouraged us to continue with this idea and find ways to bring joy to more people around the world.

Andy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I like to do things slightly different, I am very creative and like to try something new, experiment and do things by myself. I love when I can turn something into a family activity, like the car! At the end, we turned this into a family fun project.

I designed it and installed the wrap by myself with no experience in this area, got a lot of help from my family and a good friend of mine and we made it happen! It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it, I learned a lot of things and new skills during this project and I’m very proud that this is my own creation.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The way we can impact lives in a positive way is amazing, social media is a very powerful tool, if we use it right. I have been able to inspire people throughout the entire world, give them a piece of advice, tips or recommendations for the future, this makes me feel that I could create change and inspire others.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

TikTok is definitely the best way to reach out to more people and find new clients. For me by far is the best tool to find new opportunities not only in my country.
