We were lucky to catch up with Andria Turner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Andria, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years, and in this industry its best to have a Nitch and prefect it. Clients will respect and want you to service them if you have a specialty. My specialty was hair extensions. But I found myself with a lot of hair loss clients. As time went on, I realized I wasn’t helping their hair issues I was simply putting a band aid over it. when it was time to take down the hair extension some would ask if their hair grew or gotten better. The fact of the matter is hair extension don’t help customer with hair loss issues it masks it or can make it worse. So, I decided to study trichology. Which focuses on the study of diseases or problems related to the hair and scalp. This allowed me to help those particular clients both ways finding a suitable treatment plan and hair style to maintain their hair and scalp.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a licensed cosmetologist and had a passion for it ever since I was a little girl. My mother would take me to the hairdresser every two weeks to get my hair done. My hairdressers life and her job seemed so fun and fascinating. The whole fashion aspect looking good and make others look good seemed like something I would love to make a career out of.
As I began my hair career, I learned everything I could learn and do under my license. I was ready and excited. Once I dabbled in different areas. I took on the love of hair extensions. So, I took extra classes to learn as many methods as possible, and that became my niche in this field. Once I started with my specialty, things started to move in the direction I wanted. After doing hair for about 7 years, I opened up my first Hair extension salon. We did over 6 different hair extension and hair replacement methods along with traditional hair services. After servicing clients over the years, I would get a lot of hair loss clients hoping my methods would grow their hair back. Unfortunately, hair extension and hair replacement would only cover the problem or make it worse.
I decided to study more into hair loss/ Trichology, which is the study of disorders of the hair and scalp. This was the best decision for my business, because I am able to help those who want to restore their hair. My proudest moment was my first hair loss client, and for the first time I was able to provide her with sold answers and solutions for her hair loss not just a cover up.
Moving forward I’ve also opened up an online store with hair loss, hair care products, tools and supplements. This store is unique, because while shopping for the right products you have a professional that can help you put together an at home routine and/or hair loss plan while directing you to the right products.
Natural Touch Hair Studio provides hair loss, hair care and hair extension services while providing products. tool and supplement that can be purchased in the salon or online.

Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
My first salon was an existing salon. I inherited the stylist, furnishings and cliental. It was hard trying to get the stylist to see the vison of my salon. I purchased it because, I Felt like it took out some of the hard parts, finding new stylist building a cliental for the new stylists. All I had to do was add some minor renovations and train them on the hair extensions. Once I got them to see the vision and trust me, we made a great team.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
My first business I saved up and my parents saved up. We put our money together and took out a business loan. For the first business my parents were my business partners. I was about 25 when I started the first one. We later dissolved that business. I rented a salon suite for about 5 years, saved and opened my own booth rental salon. I had built up some business credit on my own and obtain a business loan from one of my merchant companies.
