We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrew Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The names for both of my companies, TRAVEL AT WILL & SPACE AT WILL, actually stem from a nickname that I earned in High School and College. A lot of times when you play sports in school, people end up calling you by your last name because that’s how the coaches identify you. Some friends and Teammates started calling me Williams, then Will and eventually Aj Will (Andrew Jr) because that was my online gamer tag. While working multiple jobs and side jobs in my early 20’s, I developed a reputation as a guy who knew people all over the city and had the ability to get you whatever you needed AT WILL. As I started formalizing TRAVEL AT WILL, I started by developing our brand identity and mission first. I wanted the focus to be about our clients and as I outlined our tenets I kept finding myself back at the “AT WILL” idiom. The phrase means “at one’s discretion or pleasure, as one desires”. Not only is it a clever name, it’s also our core philosophy and a call to action. We encourage everyone to TRAVEL AT WILL whether they book with us or not.
Andrew, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
At that time, several companies were approaching me with job offers. I decided to join NFL Superstar Larry Fitzgerald and his team at Nomad Hill as their Director of Travel Experiences. This gave me the opportunity to start designing and developing travel products in a less restrictive corporate structure. I learned a lot in a short amount of time there. Planning exclusive vacations for celebrities and other high profile clients opened up a lot of doors that most people never get access to. In the Fall of 2018, Nomad was taken over by new management and relocated to Florida. With my company buyout and some financial assistance from my childhood friend Larry Mosley, TRAVEL AT WILL was launched in September 2018. We hit the ground running and haven’t looked back. Even during the pandemic, we still able to help our travelers to get to where they need or want to be.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I’d say that TRAVEL AT WILL’s reputation has been built upon the level of integrity and compassion that my Team and I pride ourselves on. Whether we’re dealing with clients or industry partners, we are always upfront and honest. We approach every problem from the perspective of the other side, rather than putting our bottom line first. Most importantly, we always deliver on any promise that we make.
