We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrew Treglia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrew below.
Alright, Andrew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
We recently released my latest feature film, Jones Plantation (www.JonesPlantationFilm.com). I believe that with this film, I’m finally doing the kind of work that I want to do. It’s getting quite a cult following. We haven’t broken into the greater mainstream yet, but it’s doing very well. We just recently got it up on Amazon Prime, and it should be available on all of the major platforms by May, 2024. It was a brutal shoot in terrible, freezing weather, but we got through it. Most people seem to love the film, and small percentage of folks absolutely HATE it – which is a really good thing! It triggers the brainwashing and programming since childhood of some in a negative way, but most in a very positive way. I do believe at some point someone with a very large audience will post about it, and it will skyrocket into the cultural milleu – but we’ll see…We All Live On Jones Plantation.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have worked as a director, producer and editor throughout the United States and abroad for over 15 years on an extensive array of projects. I’ve completed over 30 programs for PBS, including my own show, ‘BlockHeads: Return of the Neighborhood’. I also made two feature films, including, ‘Lord of the Freaks’, which premiered at the famous Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California. I won ‘Best Social Experience’ for my Virtual Reality Experience, ‘Hypatia’, at the highly prestigious Cinequest Film & VR Festival in Silicon Valley. As I previously noted my latest feature film, Jones Plantation, was released on August 6th, and is currently one of the top selling truly independent films in America.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My three primary goals as a filmmaker are very simple – tell the truth, fear nothing and always be on the side of the people.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I got into production later in life (mid 30’s), and had never even picked-up a film/video camera before I started. I didn’t even know what aperture was! This mission has not only been a learning experience, but a complete transformation as a human being. Production is a collaborative art-form, and your ego can be your number one enemy. John Cassavetes once said, ‘when you fail at everything, you become an artist’. I think that’s where I am now.
