Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Synowiec. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Nearly 20 years ago, I packed everything I owned into my Honda Civic and drove across the country to Los Angeles with nothing more than a few demo CDs, two guitars and a phone number for a possible lead on some studio work. That risk paid off for me and I’m still taking risks! In November I’m taking my band out on the road for our first west coast tour to celebrate the release of my new album “FUN.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a session guitarist and recording artist in Los Angeles, CA. I have been fortunate enough to work for artists like The Who, Alanis Morissette, Lil Nas X, Meghan Trainor, Robbie Robertson, Michael Bublé, Seal & Barbra Streisand and recorded the soundtracks for Motion Pictures and TV Series such as Coco, Encanto, Frozen (including the Song “Let It Go”), The Simpsons, The Walking Dead and Cobra Kai. When I’m not recording music for others, I make my own records and perform live with my own instrumental project which embraces instrumental guitar music through the ages, drawing heavily from the of the golden age of vinyl. I recently released a new album called “FUN” and I’ll be bringing the full band on tour in November.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is bringing my music to audiences live and watching their reaction in real-time. The initial creation of a piece of music is usually a solitary endeavor and I’m always keeping my fellow musicians and the audience in mind when I compose. It’s exciting to see what captures their attention. I have a diverse audience and I’m trying to make sure the performance is well-rounded and balanced with enough beautiful melodies and danceable grooves for the average listener and enough fretboard fire for the guitar lovers,
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to bring people together through music. I personally have a very wide and diverse set of influences and I’d like to think that translates into music which is equally diverse and inclusive. When I look out into the audience I see people from all walks of life and that is very important to me. For my upcoming tour I have chosen venues which should appeal to a wide range of audiences: we are playing a guitar shop in Solvang, CA (Lost Chord Guitars) on Nov 1st, a wine bar in Pismo Beach, CA (Puffer’s of Pismo) on Nov 2nd, a nightclub/restaurant in Ventura, CA (The Grape) on Nov 3rd, an intimate jazz club in Los Angeles, CA (The Baked Potato) on Nov 4th and an a creative arts space in San Pedro, CA (Alva’s Showroom) on Nov 5th.
