Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Shelby. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrew, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Self development through creative expression is the purpose of my journey. Establishing a sense of being or belonging is my why. Proving myself worthy is the growth of my actions. At this point, my growth becomes the continuation of my journey and why I take action in self-development and creative expression. Purpose, contribution, actions, and growth.
Ever sense I was a child the only thing I felt I was good at was expressing myself through any creative mediums of art. Whether that was through painting, drawing, poetry, video or photography, and design. It was also the only categories where I felt accomplished or proud of what I put together. It didn’t always have to make sense but it was just all about the process involved to come up with something from original thought.
This evolved into an obsession that sparked a career to repeat the process of developing a puzzle. Sewing fabric together that told a unique story through any medium, but particularly video, photography, design, and written words. It was a calling that spoke to me. A purpose. A unique bend in time that created value and a obsession that must be expressed, repeated, and unwound. A mission that served as the foundation of interest for the need to create www.ksvisions.com
I transitioned a life long passion and hobby into a career that to me, simply means: My purpose in life. To contribute and share with the world creative services and continue to develop along life’s journey, One creative project at a time. We are what we repeat. My goal is to continue to create, continue to learn and grow, and help others accomplish there goals in a creative way.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As any company in any industry, you will have up’s and downs. Too busy to think of spare time between projects, feeling like there isn’t enough time in the day to complete all the tasks on your list and times you will be creating fun passion projects to keep you busy in-between. You can see and expect spikes where it feels like every contact you know decided to start projects at the same time and enough of a gap in the slow times to feel like questioning whether you should find some temporarily work to keep cash flow consistent.
Being financially smart and cautious for the times your clients are content with what they currently have to market themselves and the slight drop in needs and services, sometimes depending on the season as well, be as strategic with your funds as much as possible. Sometimes creatives are great at a number of things but not so good at managing finances and i can defiantly attest to that. When sales are great, it can feel like the best time to re-invest in equipment only to be hit with another dip in sales for an amount of time too close to comfort to cover all of your expenses.
Having at least a 2-3 month or even up to 6 month cushion to cover your expenses would be the advice I would share to my younger self and still good advice for veterans alike. Times can be tough, emergencies can happen, and having adequate funds in place for rainy days is ideal if you want to make it through the times where you need it the most.
On the other side, if your really committed, there is plenty of temporary work you can take to help you through the in-between projects, the gaps between the next gig, and the time you want to invest in passion projects that might take awhile before any residual income can be generated from it. No job is too low to take on when it comes to providing for your family and I personally have had to make multiple sacrifices and take on jobs to make sure there was cashflow to keep things moving along. Doesn’t mean that you quit. It just means that your an adult with responsibilities that you need to handle and you make adjustments as you go.
Whether your just starting out or your a veteran that has to shift how you make money to make ends meet for the in-betweens, there’s no shame. The more you plan for life’s adventure’s the more equipped you will be to make it work in hard times. No matter what, never stop creating.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
To start off with, what helped me build my reputation as a creative in the industry, i must address the fact that i was not a naturally born and gifted creative. I couldn’t draw a straight line, (Still can’t) my left handed handwriting looks like a five year old’s calligraphy, my grammar and punctuation in my writing is extremely under developed, the first photos i took were poorly composed, and my video editing was for awhile considered too fast to understand the story similar to most current tik tok videos that go viral. I’m joking for the most part, but you get the point. What we enjoy in life isn’t always what we naturally acquire out of thin air as we develop.
My un-relentless approach to never quit and deliver a product that stands out amongst competition, and my “learned & practiced” abilities to see something unique and make it pop is what makes ksvisions.com compete and stand out to deliver a product that sticks and delivers results. Practice. Practice. Practice. I obsessed in my training days to get where i’m at. Hard work, drive, and determination to get good at my craft with an attitude to never stop improving along my journey. I have served as the underdog for many years. I am far from where i’m striving to head, and feel that i can get far better then what i deliver but i enjoy the process and I’m grateful and rewarded by the journey i’ve been able to make happen thus far and thankful for all the opportunities and people that have aloud me to live out my dreams. I’ve made plenty of dumb mistakes, procrastinations, and have questioned if i’m even good enough to make it through the bumps in the road but i’m human and do my best to make changes, adapt, and grow. At the end of the day, i just want to keep creating art and share it with like minded individuals.
Reputation isn’t all what it’s cracked up to be. Don’t do it for image alone, do it for the process and because it aids in the pursuit of happiness. Continue to do it to, to show your kids that dreams are possible. I do my best to stay humble and hungry. I try to push myself along the journey and continue to do what i enjoy the most and put more effort into projects then expected. I keep a positive attitude, a joyful outlook, and try to focus mostly staying creatively present while living in the here and now, spending as much time as i can with my family.
