We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrew Rudd a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As a realtor, my mission is to help bring people’s home-vision into reality. I work with those looking to buy for the first-time, those looking to buy their dream home, and investors looking to find financial freedom. The story behind this mission is our own passion. My wife and I got married about two years ago and since then we have been seeking to build our dreams and leave a legacy to our children and grandchildren. We have big dreams of owning land with animals and a big home to show hospitality. We want to build something great with the resources that God has given us. Moreover, we also want to bless others. As we have thought about our dream, it has inspired me to come alongside others to help them bring their dream into reality. In the past two years, my wife and I have bought a home, refinished the main floor together, and have watched our simple home increase in value. Our home has appreciated about $50,000-70,000 in value since we bought it. That is $25,000-35,000 in passive income each year! These events have convinced me, along with historical study, that real estate is the best investment. Furthermore, it has created a passion in me to educate young people on the benefits of home buying. I am a big advocate for seeing home buying as an investment rather than an expense and to do it sooner rather than later. Thus, our story fuels my mission to educate and help others bring their dreams into reality through real estate.
Andrew, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a real estate expert with United Real Estate Louisville. My vision to bring people’s dreams into reality. I work with those looking to buy for the first-time, those looking to buy their dream home, and investors looking to find financial freedom. I got into the real estate world by being inspired through our own home buying process. Thus, after teaching for four years at a Classical School, I quit my job and went into full-time real estate. As a realtor, I am the educator and advisor of my clients. My job is to understand their dream and then help them build a roadmap to it. Whatever someone’s problem might be, it is my job to figure out a solution. Whether that is financial, vocational, personal, or family related, there is a solution to whatever the problem might be. I pride myself in customer service. I aim to prioritize my client’s needs and desires and help them get to their home buying dreams. An ultimately that is the goal. The goal is for every one of my clients to find the home of their dreams, to delight in it all of their lives, and to reach the financial freedom that they desire. Some people think this is a huge task, but my job to make it easy.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The major pivot in my life was when I decided to leave the comforts of my W-2 job for the exciting adventure of becoming a real estate agent and business owner. Everything up to then was pretty safe. I worked and brought home a paycheck regularly. I knew what I was going to bring home each week, and we knew how to budget as a family. However, I decided that it was not enough. We needed to make more money as a family. We needed more potential, more flexibility, more excitement. Thus, we decided to pursue our vision and leave safety behind. I started studying for my real estate exams in my free time while working full-time and also starting an auto repair shop. After six months, I took my test and got my license. I left my W-2 job and jumped into the deep end. Now I am a real estate agent and business owner.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is really caring for people. People will be loyal if you look them in the eye, listen to them, and really help them. There are no shortcuts.
