We were lucky to catch up with Andrew Patch recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I’ve always believed that things happen when they’re meant to happen. In December 2023, my life changed completely. I fell into a coma from something as simple as the flu. I lost the ability to walk, talk, eat, and drink. I came close to losing my life. That experience forced me to slow down, reflect, and appreciate every moment. When you face something like that, it changes how you see the world. It pushes you to try new things, take more chances, and make the most of the time you’re given.
My business partner, George, was a constant source of support through that chapter. In August 2025, we took a leap and started this business together. Looking back, it all came together at the right time. The vision, the readiness for a new challenge, and the courage to be just uncomfortable enough to grow. Starting something new is always scary, but we were ready for it. And I’m so grateful we took that step.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So, I have been tattooing professionally for 16 years. All of that time has been in Georgia. most of those years in Atlanta. I’m now located at Tattoo Magic in Marietta, Ga.
I’ve had a wide range of clientele, and experienced people from all walks of life. I try my best to give someone the tattoo that they want, to the best of my ability. Something that they will be happy with for the rest of their life. I want to treat them with respect and kindness, because I feel that’s what people truly remember from their tattoo experience. And to be honest, it’s common for people to share negative experiences they’ve had in tattoo shops. They’ve been met with ego and attitude, and I try my best to change that. I want people to enjoy the experience, receive something they are happy with, and feel good about spending their money with me.
I love being able to collaborate with clients and bounce ideas off each other. My ultimate goal is to achieve a tattoo that is powerful, thought provoking, interesting to look at, well done, in a professional environment.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think the most effective strategy for us is treating each customer with respect, charging a fair price, and doing a quality tattoo. We feel like that’s the foundation of our business. We also have a very DIY way of spreading awareness about our shop. We hand out flyers, meet with local businesses, and build a connection. We think it’s important to put a face to our name. Going into a new tattoo shop can be a scary thing, you never know who’s going to greet you when you come in. So we want people to know who we are and that we’d like to earn your business. Word of mouth is very important in our business and we want customers to be able to share their experiences with us in a positive way. I think that’s more valuable than any amount of faceless online marketing.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In December 2023, I was hospitalized for two months with severe complications from the flu and came close to death several times. Doctors told me I might never be able to work again. Tattooing has always been my passion, and it was heartbreaking to imagine losing that part of myself.
While I was in the hospital, messages of support poured in from friends and clients sharing how much their tattoos and experiences meant to them. That encouragement reminded me why I love what I do and gave me a reason to fight for recovery. When I finally returned to tattooing, I came back with a deeper appreciation for life, my craft, and the people who make it all worthwhile.
