Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Hall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Andrew thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the best advice you ever gave to a client? How did they benefit / what was the result? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
My advice to clients is pretty simple – find someone that you trust and is transparent about the process. In my practice we try to make this step super simple by offering complimentary virtual consults. You simply submit a photo and let me know what you would like to change about your smile. Once this is submitted I will send you a personalized video explaining your options and costs.
Andrew , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
A little about myself, I grew up in Florida and did all my education there including dental school at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. After completing dental school I spent 4 years in the US Army as a dentist. After separating from the Army, I settled in Colorado Springs and began working in private practice. In 2008, I opened my own office, the Studio for Exceptional Dentistry. I have served as the primary dental provider in this office since then and have been practicing cosmetic dentistry for over 2 decades.
The focus of my practice is providing a patient centered dental experience. I have always leveraged the latest in dental technology to give my patients the best care possible. One common misconception is that all we do is cosmetic dentistry. While this is a huge part of my practice, I have educated myself in various disciplines and offer a full scope of dental treatments. I can help you if you have questions or are in need of dental implants, Invisalign or just need some routine dentistry.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One illustration of resiliency would just be when I decided to open my own practice. I took a path less traveled in that I did what you call a “scratch start-up”. This means you just open an office with no real existing patients and hope they will show up. The more traditional approach is to buy an existing practice or partner with a doctor that is getting ready to slow down or retire. I decided to do this 2008, not a great economic time in our country. This was a tough time to start any business, it took a lot of hard work and focus in order to grow a business/practice at this time but it all worked out.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy is probably two fold for me and likely intertwined. One, treat others like you want to be treated and secondly make it easy for clients to do business with you.
One of my pet peeves in life is sitting and waiting when I have an appointment time that was given to me. We strive to see all our patients at their exact times and my team knows this is important to me. My patients have grown to know they will be seen in a prompt fashion as we have reserved that time for them specifically and respect their time. This is an example of treating others like you want to be treated.
In order to make it easy for existing and potential clients to do business with us we strive to be leaders in our industry and do things differently. I was the first dentist in Colorado Springs to offer virtual consults. We did this long before covid which made this practice much more common. This gives clients the potential to figure out if my practice is the right fit for them without even having to come into my physical practice.
