Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrew Garrett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. f you needed to find a key partner or facility – how did you find them, what was the process of striking a deal like and what would you do differently knowing what you know now?
For me finding vendors and partners is a crucial piece of what I do. In order for me to deliver the highest quality experience for my guests I have to have the best possible ingredients and locations. I trust my suppliers and hosts with my business.
Most recently I found an amazing partner who is a hunting guide in The Frank Church Wilderness of Idaho. He and I met through a mutual connection, as a bow hunter and chef I spend a lot of time cooking under open skies and stars, my time in the wilderness is special to me and in order for me to be willing to share that experience with others I have to trust them, believe in their ethos and client experience goals and expectations. After speaking with Caleb of Wilderness Mule Outfitters I knew I had found a great partner, and I know after he spoke with me he found the same with me. I mean he’s trusting me with a huge part of his business as I am mine with him. We both benefit from our clients having an amazing experience.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a published and award-winning chef who has a passion for food and life thanks to countless adventures and travel around the globe. Having grown up in Sonoma, California, I quickly developed an appreciation for all things local. While serving for the U.S. Army in Germany, I was able to spend many weekends traveling to France and Tuscany, where I felt right at home enjoying local delicacies, such as wine and cheese and in my leisure, foraging and taking up butchery. I am enamored with French and Italian culture and cuisine and its regional diversity. My passion for ingredients is quintessential in bringing my patrons the best possible recipes and sauces. I am excited to share my sense of adventure and thirst for knowledge and inspire anyone with a passion for great food.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has helped me to grow my reputation within the food and outdoor market? Being a genuine, straight shooting, no bullshit, and transparent person.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My number one goal is to make a living spending weeks in the mountains, cooking for clients, and hunting some of the most beautiful back country in the world.
