We recently connected with Andrew & Dave Breunig & Trapasso and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew & Dave, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
We have a lot of friends within this industry and we strive to meet other creatives as our business grows. It’s part of our ethos to work with and collaborate on different projects with people from all over the state.
We don’t view our creative colleagues as competition, and we actively work with as many people as we can.
There’s certainly enough room to go around and we love the idea of fostering a network of encouragement and support. We value people’s differences and are always willing to learn more from others just as much as we can teach them.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Dave is an avid foodie and teacher. Andrew loves to read and is a corporate video editor. The rest of the time, Dave and Andrew are co-owners of Film Haven Productions, a media company dedicated to providing top quality story solutions for clients and artists of every industry and walk of life.
Dave started the group in 2015, but it wasnt until 2021 that Dave and Andrew both decided to make it a full LLC. Film Haven has already grown rapidly within 1 year and we already have a cooking show, healthcare documentary, Non-profit PSA and other projects to look forward to.
The world is fast shifting towards video more and more – from tiktok to 24 hour news cycle to Instagram reels and countless streaming platforms – we see this as a golden age of video and have made it our mission to utiilize our skills and experience to help our clients maximize their video capabilities.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Dave and Andrew met while filming Film Haven’s first documentary: “Sky So Blue” (which is now available to watch on Tubi) and has won over 6 best U.S. documentary awards. Film Haven previoud sly had 4 members and different CEO (who moved onto other career opportunities). The group eventually dissolved over time until 2021 when Andrew and David recharged the group and made it a fully fledged business. Dave and Andrew’s shared and focused vision helps guide Film Haven into the future.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Film haven became real when David decided to quit the restaurant industry to focus on a film production full time. While he still makes time to teach a few video production classes in New Haven, David is excited to continue producing films that inform and entertain people around arts, culture and travel.
For Andrew, Film Haven became very real, very fast. As clients continued to reach out to Film Haven that first year, the business ideas continued to flow.
Ideas about marketing, what industry to target next, who to collaborate with, how else to make money, how to get his friends involved – It was all very exciting and started opening doors Andrew didnt even know were there.
Andrew had to pivot his whole life around the business. Andrew’s newfound ambition was the catalyst for ensuring the company continues to grow.
