We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrew Cramb a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Passion and purpose in what you do.
When you truly define your purpose and why you’re chasing your goals, you hit a stride and get such a special fuel to keep going even when things get hard. Combine that with a genuine passion for the work you do, and people can feel it! It’s magic.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m the host of the Where Are All My Friends Podcast, I’m an account manager at Race Service (an LA-based Creative Agency), and the Co-Founder of Version III Records.
Ultimately, my purpose is to inspire exceptional people to accomplish their goals and do some epic stuff with my friends along the way!

Have you ever had to pivot?
I think this is such a beautiful question. As we grow older it becomes scarier to make career pivots. But worse than that is getting stuck doing something you don’t love or have fallen out of love with.
For almost all of my 20’s I was fully set in finding success in the music industry. I got my start by tour managing bands and traveling all over the world. It was incredible, and ultimately led to the chance to work for the record label our band got signed to.
At the time I thought it would be the best job in the world and a huge step forward in my career. I tried it for a few years, but found it really wasn’t what I thought it would be.
I was extremely lost and didn’t know what would be next. I started a podcast (Where Are All My Friends) to start sharing the stories of people’s creative careers and come up stories to not only learn for myself, but to share that with others. Ultimately that led to me finding a deep passion for podcasting, which then opened the door to meeting my now family at Race Service. The pivot from music, to podcasting, to automotive was uncertain at the time, but I had faith in the process and embraced chasing something I was passionate about and not settling.
If I hadn’t taken those risks and made those pivots I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Two books that have always stuck with me and been huge inspirations are Good to Great by Jim Collins – basically how to turn a company from you guessed it, good to great haha. And Linchpin by Seth Godin – a book that teaches anyone how to take full pride in what they do and become irreplaceable in their industry.
No matter what field of work you’re in, I think you’ll take something incredible away from those books.
