We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrew Cheng. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrew below.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
We do not take on a massive amount of agents, because we value the quality amount of a broker than the quantity. Our team of agents are all well versed on the Medicare system and represent multiple plans through out the Greater City of Houston.
Andrew, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Andrew Cheng was born and raised in Houston, Texas and started as an insurance agent in 2008 and built out the agency in 2017. As a first generation American, we found that the immigrant community needed a lot of help in understanding their medicare options. That was the niche market that we started with, and we’ve since evolved into an agency with 30+ agents, 25 which reside in the Greater City of Houston.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy is to create relationships with your existing clients. Most seniors are looking for companionship, and to be able to share their legacy. We try to focus on the individual needs of our clients, this could be insurance related or another shoulder lean on. Our retention rate is very high compared to the rest of the industry because our focus is on the quality of care.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My daughter was born during the height of the busiest time for Medicare enrolments. I had to reschedule 37 appointments in the span of 3 days. Luckily, I had the support of my in-house team and brokers to help mitigate the situation. This is where having a culture of teamwork really helped me out.
