We recently connected with Andrew Barlowe and have shared our conversation below.
Andrew, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
The most innovative thing i’ve done in my career thus far is change my way of thinking. When most people see problems, I look at opportunities for the current battle and the new skill that will be gained for the long game. Much of our lives we avoid the hard, the stress, the difficult situations, but when we learn to be comfortable in the fire pit, nothing can burn us. I feel we have to be grateful for those challenges for without them there is no growth! We have to be grateful we get to play this game of business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Barlowe Ventures is an extension of the inner childhood entrepreneur. We focus on partnering with quality people who have great passion and ideas to further ideas, and vision. We partner alongside brands to reach the next level. We currently have Sipit, Barlowe Homes Group, Barlowe & Bozeman Holdings under the fold which we are extremely growth focused over the next couple years. The first company I co-founded, Direct Call Solutions, will turn 10 this year. 10, that’s ridiculous.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
Missing payroll is the elephant in the room no founder ever wants to think about, talk about, or hear about. Unfortunately as a start up with my first company funded from savings accounts, and no investors, no bank money, or Vs this happened more than i’d like to remember. You make transfers from your personal savings hoping it will be the last time, but it’s part of the journey if you believe in your brand.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A key lesson i’ve had to learn is it’s not all on me. As a young entrepreneur you always think you can do it all, as you become wiser and more experienced you realize there are other smart minds, harder workers, and prettier people. Create an ecosystem where everyone’s strengths can win.
