Andressa, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

“If there are no risks, there is no story” – a saying that captures the essence of my journey, where taking risks has become synonymous with living out the vivid tales unfolding in the realm of dreams.

For me, the biggest risk was not the challenges faced along the way, but rather the possibility of not taking that leap of faith. The decision to uproot myself and move to another country during a pivotal moment in my career was a bold choice laden with uncertainty. Yet, the thirst for life and the allure of creating a narrative I visualized in my head propelled me forward.

As an actress, I recognize the profound truth that more experiences translate into greater depth and versatility in storytelling. Acting, for me, is a form of play, an opportunity to embody different characters and traverse diverse narratives. It’s about embracing the unknown, venturing beyond the familiar, and not taking every moment too seriously.

The fear of taking risks often holds people back, confining them to the safety of their comfort zones. However, I understand that stagnation is the real risk as time swiftly passes by. The choice to move countries not once but twice was a testament to my unwavering will to live a life rich with experiences and stories.

In my story, the biggest risk emerges as the best choice. It means a commitment to growth, a willingness to face the unknown, and an acknowledgment that the will to live is a force that can overcome apprehensions. Through the twists and turns of my journey, I assert that risks are the building blocks of a well-lived life, where each giving choice becomes a chapter in a story uniquely my own.

I’m a Brazilian actress and a passionate dreamer whose journey is a testament to the transformative power of curiosity, language, and cultural exploration. At the age of 26, I stand proud, having conquered the linguistic landscape in four languages.

My love for discovering new cultures and learning different languages has been a driving force throughout my life. The culmination of this passion led me to embark on a remarkable learning process when I lived in Switzerland during my youth. There, I had the unique opportunity to learn from Serge Poncelet, an accomplished actor and director who has established himself as a leading professional within the European theater scene. He was a mentor to me, opening the doors to the captivating world of theater in Paris.

Living through this felt like a dream. In a class where a different language was spoken, I soaked in not just the world of theater but also the diverse cultures woven throughout the room. It became a journey that widened my perspective and molded my outlook on the world.

My acting journey began at the age of 12 in Brazil when I participated in significant projects showcasing my talent. Since then, I have had the privilege to work on many incredible and critically acclaimed productions. Most notably, the Emmy-nominated television program “One Against All” and the popular Brazilian soap opera “Salve-se Quem Puder” were pivotal moments in my career, opening doors to a myriad of exciting opportunities.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of new challenges, I recognize the profound impact of personal knowledge. Living in a foreign country, navigating through different languages, and immersing myself in diverse cultures contributed immensely to my growth and maturity as an actress. Each experience became a stepping stone in my evolution as both an artist and an individual.

Now residing in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, I reflect on the abundant rewards I’m reaping for my future as an actress and as a human being. The cultural melting pot of Los Angeles provides a fitting backdrop for my continued advancement in the world of acting. I am looking forward to the opportunity to showcase my talents and passion for my work on a number of exciting upcoming projects.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I think the most important advice I have received and wish I had at the beginning of my career is to have confidence in myself and my abilities. Having confidence and trusting myself has been the key to my success thus far and has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone to work on some outstanding projects.

The power of trust is a profound force that can transform even the most timid souls into confident dreamers. I once lived behind a veil of shyness during my childhood, where fear served as both a shield and a companion. A turning point in my journey came when I stepped into the world of theater, a realm that initially made my body vibrate with fear and my legs tremble at the mere act of uttering my name.

As I gained confidence within my abilities as an actress, I discovered the liberating feeling of letting go. However, a lingering sense of fear continued to shadow me, seemingly protecting myself in various moments. Fear, I realized, could wield a powerful influence over the body.

Throughout my journey, I learned that fear operates on different levels. It can be a complex variety of emotions intertwined within, but I also discovered that one emotion, when recognized and understood, has the power to move us. In my quest for self-awareness, I found solace in silence and introspection. Meditation became a powerful tool, enabling me to listen to the subtle whispers of my body.

Reflecting on my experiences, I express a wish for having learned to meditate sooner and cultivated discipline in the practice. Nevertheless, I recognize that everything unfolds at the right time. Today, armed with the ability to be present and attuned to my emotions, I see my creative path more clearly. Grateful for the journey, I can now sit in one place, listen to the present moment, and feel alive and confident in pursuing my dreams.

It is a journey of overcoming fears, embracing vulnerability, and ultimately finding the confidence to walk the path of creativity and dreams. Without this journey, I would not have accomplished what I have so far in my career.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

In my creative journey, the goal is not merely fleeting moments of fame or transient success; it’s about carving a path of longevity and establishing a career rooted in the art of acting. From the age of 12, I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of living as an actor, and now, armed with a wealth of industry knowledge, my vision extends far beyond the spotlight.

My aspiration lies in making a name that withstands the test of time. It’s about being a fixture in the industry, not just for a moment but for a lifetime. The focus is on the invaluable currency of time spent in the room, on the set, and immersed in the craft – a commitment to the very essence of what the pursuit of acting entails: making meaningful work.

For me, the goal is not confined to sporadic successes; it’s a relentless dedication to the ability to make a living through my art. It’s about weaving a career that sustains, thrives, and evolves over the years. The pursuit is rooted in the belief that true success in the creative realm is measured by the consistency of one’s work and the impact it leaves on audiences.
