Andressa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
My background working as an interior design has been invaluable in shaping my artistic vision. As I navigated the world of design, I got a good sense of of how art interacts with interior spaces. This knowledge has become an integral part of my creative process, enabling me to envision the impact and aesthetic of my paintings within different environments. This unique perspective has not only informed my artistic choices but has also allowed me to create paintings that resonate on a deeper level within interior settings.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey into the world of art began at an early age. I remember making my first oil painting when I was 6 years old. At the age of 17, I made the decision to leave Brazil and embark on an exciting journey of exploration across the globe. Over the years, I traveled to 45 countries and lived in 10 different places, immersing myself in diverse cultures and landscapes. This journey became a profound exploration of the vastness of human experience, consciousness, and spirituality, themes that deeply resonate in my art.
One significant chapter of my journey brought me to New York City, where I pursued a degree in interior design and began my career in the field. While studying and working in design, I discovered an even stronger connection to my passion for painting, which gradually became the primary focus of my career.
My journey into the world of art has been a profound exploration of self-discovery and creative expression, shaping my identity and inspiring my work in profound ways.
Can you tell us about your art?
My art is a reflection of my fascination with consciousness, spirituality, and the human psyche. It aims to serve as a vessel for exploring the enigmatic mysteries of existence, delving into the depths of the human experience. I like to imagine each piece as a portal, intricately weaving together fragments of memory and emotion that reside within the subconscious.
One of the defining features of my art is the delicate interplay of colors and intricate layers of abstract forms. This visual narrative aims to capture the intangible aspects of our existence: the ethereal energies and emotions that words often fail to express. Through my art, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection, inviting viewers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and contemplation.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
To me, the process of creating art itself is immensely rewarding and fulfilling. It’s a deeply personal and introspective process that allows me to tap into something greater than myself. It’s a meditative experience, allowing me to explore the depths of creativity and connect with something beyond the physical realm.
I also find very fulfilling to witness my artwork resonating with others. Knowing that my work can evoke moments of realization and wonder brings an unparalleled sense of fulfillment. This connection with viewers adds depth and meaning to my artistic journey, reinforcing the profound impact that art can have on both creators and observers alike.I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for art with others and to continue evolving as an artist.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my opinion, society can best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem by recognizing the value of the arts and taking steps to make them more accessible to everyone. This means investing in things like cultural centers and art programs, making sure that people from all backgrounds have the chance to learn about and participate in the arts. It also means encouraging artists to pursue their passions by providing resources and opportunities for them to grow and collaborate with others. By doing these things, society can ensure that artists and creatives can thrive and continue to make our communities more vibrant and inspiring.
