We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andres Londono. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andres below.
Andres, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
A project is meaningful to me when it stirs me inside in some way. It may be a major identifiable aspect, wether rational or emotional, or it could be more elusive simply posing a question that truly inspires me to dig deeper. Ultimately, meaning is up to us, as it is a direct result of our perspective. We choose where and how to focus our attention allowing for creativity to emerge.
A project that means the world to me is my new feature film “A Day for Driving” which is currently running the film festival circuit and exploring distribution. This is a film I wrote, directed, produced, edited, co-photographed, co-scored and starred in. I did it in less than 3 months from inception to delivery and without the use of crew or investors of any kind. After the industry strikes hit, I set out to create a piece of art in a truly INDEPENDENT way. The film follows Emilio, a sound engineer who engages with an unknown caller, and his dull existence suddenly becomes a life or death rush in which driving the streets of Los Angeles might be his only shot at survival.

Some reviews from the screenings:
- “A tour de force by Andres Londono writing, directing, acting, editing, promoting a gripping thriller shot on iphone in the midst of the strike!” Gregoire Gensollen, Executive Producer Tucker Tooley Entertainment. “Arthur The King”
- “An exhilarating and powerful character-driven thriller” Camilo Buendia, Executive Producer “Sound of Freedom”
- You are in for a ride! Smart, Crafty and Current. Andres’ performance is thorough. This movie kept me buckled up on my seat. It is entertaining, edgy, risky without missing a beat. A one man band that sounds like an orchestra. Erick Douat, Sr. Director – Premium Content Development at Sony Music Entertainment; General Manager 1868 Studios (a Residente and Sony Music Joint Venture)
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Growing up Colombia I used to write, direct and act in my own films when I was a kid inviting friends and neighbors to participate in my creations (not having a clue what I was doing- just pure passion) using a massive, now obsolete, camera my parents had lying around the house. My fierce desire to be a performer and story teller somehow became something “unrealistic and childish” and towards the end of elementary school, I decided to pursue sports, channeling all that energy into Soccer, Motocross and Skateboarding. I imagined I would either be a professional soccer player or a diplomat, which actually seemed more fitting to a “normal” life. So I registered at one of the best schools in the country to study “Government & International Relations” but In my senior year, weeks before graduation, a soccer teammate convinced me to play Dracula in a school play he had adapted to inaugurate the school’s theatre stage. When I saw myself as the character for the first time in that dressing room, It all came back rushing like a wild fire and I never looked back. I moved to New York as a teenager right out of high school and studied at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. I got involved in several theatre productions in NYC and acted in my first short film. In 2001 I moved to Los Angeles and continued my studies at Stella Adler Academy. Four years later I got my first agent and began working professionally. It’s been almost 20 years of a colorful career filled with every emotion known by humankind and stories for the books! My most recent roles include Enrique Clavel “Narcos Mexico” (Netflix), Castillo “Mil Colmillos aka Thousand Fangs” (HBO), Oscar Diaz “Fear The Walking Dead” (AMC) and Oscar in the film “Llanto Maldito” (HBO) for which I received a Colombian Academy award nomination for best actor in a leading role in November 2022.
I started my own production company Mango Verde Entertainment and have directed, produced, starred and co-written the short “Romeo Is Breathing” Official Selection of Dublin Smartphone Film Festival 2021. My first feature film “A Day for Driving” mentioned previously and I am now in pre-production for a next feature.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to continue serving by creating and expressing my art through performing and filmmaking. I believe art to be an essential tool in human growth and development, as well as a historical compass helping us travel through time.
