We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andres Leal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andres, appreciate you joining us today. Any thoughts around creating more inclusive workplaces?
Inclusion means more than just diversity—it’s about making sure everyone feels valued and has the chance to grow. I’ve worked in places where language or background held people back, and that shaped my view. At Bright Talent Group, we break those barriers by teaching in both English and Spanish and giving hands-on opportunities to everyone. That’s how we create real access and impact.

Andres, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Andres Leal, and I’m the co-founder of Bright Talent Group, a bilingual, hands-on electrical training academy based in Indianapolis. I’ve been in the electrical construction industry for over a decade, starting from the ground up as a helper and working my way to Foreman, with experience on large-scale commercial and industrial projects. My journey into the trade began with curiosity and a desire to build something real—and over time, it became a passion for excellence, safety, and mentorship.
Bright Talent Group was born from a clear mission: to empower the next generation of electricians—especially the Latino and multicultural workforce—by giving them access to practical, real-world training in their own language. Too often, talented individuals are held back by language barriers, lack of guidance, or limited hands-on experience. We decided to change that.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
We met on our first job through a staffing company—two guys with short time in the country and big dreams in our heads. We were assigned to the same site, and right away, there was a connection. We didn’t just share a language—we shared work ethic, values, and that fire to prove ourselves. Every break was a chance to talk about plans, ideas, the future. Even then, we knew we weren’t just there to pull wire or bend pipe—we were building something much bigger.
That job didn’t last long, but our friendship did. Years later, after growing through the ranks and gaining experience, we came full circle and created Bright Talent Group—a space for others just like us: starting fresh, looking for a chance, and ready to learn.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When Tairo and I first arrived in the U.S., we had no connections, limited English, and just a dream to make it in a new country. We got placed on a jobsite through a staffing agency, unsure if we’d even last the week. The weather was harsh, the work was tough, and communication felt impossible. But we showed up early, worked hard, and leaned on each other.
There were days we felt invisible—but we never gave up. Step by step, we learned the trade, earned respect, and built a reputation. Years later, we founded Bright Talent Group to give others the same shot we fought for. That journey—that resilience—is at the heart of everything we do.
