We were lucky to catch up with Andreea Simion recently and have shared our conversation below.
Andreea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
To become a Board-Certified Polarity Therapy Practitioner, it usually takes around 2-2.5 years of training, lots of practice sessions, even more time spent studying the body and around 800 classroom hours. The classes mostly occur mostly on the weekends.
When I started the training several years ago, I couldn’t imagine touching people or holding certain spots on their body to balance the energy. I remember thinking during the first class that this is not for me, due to having severe anxiety and inability to sit still. I did not voice my thoughts to anyone in the class, but my teacher knew. Moments later, the instructor came up to me and said: this is exactly where you need to be, you will overcome this. I was shocked, how did they know?
Today, I cannot imagine not working with clients and seeing their body become more aligned to promote healing, restore their vitality, release trauma and most of all become aware of their body and mind relationship.
Currently I am taking further training to teach Polarity Therapy and become an instructor. After 7 years of practicing polarity therapy, its power never ceases to amaze me. During a recent class, I showed up for my training with much hip pain. I was joking with the students saying it must be old age, though I am only 45 years old.
This particular weekend we were working with the lower back muscle. As another instructor “used me” to demonstrate how to relieve hip and back pain, I was excited at the possibility of seeing a miracle. I was thinking: wouldn’t it be great if this technique really worked? I should know better than to question the power of Polarity Therapy. I have seen its magical powers. As the instructor began to work on releasing my muscle called QL (Quadratus Lumborum), I was not feeling anything different. The hip still hurt.. till next day when I got up with NO PAIN and more flexibility in my hip joint. Another lesson learned along the way that Polarity Therapy is powerful if we invite it in and allow it to do its magic.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A little about me –
I grew up in Romania (Transylvania region to be exact) and I came to the United States at the age of 14 years old. From a young age, I was taught herbal medicine, the power of nature and how to make your own wine. (Do not try the wine making at home)
My current career and wellness business –
My daytime career is being The Intake Coordinator for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Department at the Ohio State University Medical Center / James Cancer Hospital located in Columbus, Ohio. I coordinate care for bone marrow transplant for cancer patients. I survived going back to school in my 40’s and now having a Master Degree in Health Care Innovation from the Ohio State University. I appreciate your applause here :)
My wellness business is located in Dublin, Ohio and I am a Board-Certified Polarity Therapy Practitioner. I am also a warrior of life’s many battles, a mom that survived teenage years and a continuous avid learner.
I hold a very compassionate heart towards others and have a deep calling to serve humanity. I have offered my services at the Ohio State University to my colleagues and co-workers as part of my Destress for Success Program a few years back in 2018. This led me to win the yearly Distinguish Staff Award at the University Medical Center.
What is Polarity Therapy and why did I study it?
The body and mind intrigued me ever since I can remember. I wanted to learn a technique that was hands on, powerful and self-healing. I was hungry for knowledge on how to dig deep within ourselves to find answers and how to work with the life force energy that lives in each of us. With the help of google, I found the school of Polarity Therapy in 2015.
Polarity Therapy is a light hands-on approach that creates balance within your nervous system, rejuvenates your body and mind, releases tension, trauma and all sorts of pain.
What sets me apart? What would I want my potential clients to know about my work?
What sets me apart is my European accent, together with my dash of humor.
Within one session I can combine relaxation massage techniques, the use of hot stones and Polarity Therapy techniques. I incorporate guided imagery meditation for a more deeper relaxation. I work with the client to visually take them on a journey to help release deeper tension and /or trauma, while I do the Polarity Therapy holds on their body. This technique seems to be very effective.
The feedback that I get from many of my clients is that they feel my presence in different places in the room at the same time. No, I do not bilocate that I know of and if I did, trust me I would be on the front page of this magazine. My only explanation is that energy flows where the attention is given. When I enter into a session, I am very much fully present. As I become aware of energetic imbalances, I work on creating the space needed so the electromagnetic field can be restored and renewed.
I believe in integrity, authenticity and giving each client my best. I am not perfect, however I make effort to be a better human today than I was yesterday.
