We recently connected with Andreas Ranasen and have shared our conversation below.
Andreas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
I often emphasize that my journey didn’t rely heavily on social media metrics like likes, followers, or viral moments. While those elements can be beneficial, they weren’t the foundation of my success. Instead, I attribute my achievements to the connections and relationships I’ve nurtured throughout my career.
I’ve never had to apply for a job through LinkedIn or any other job site. In today’s job market, online applications can be particularly challenging due to inefficient resume screenings and the tendency of companies to post job listings with the intention of hiring internally. My opportunities have always come directly from the network I’ve built.
Being kind yet direct, maintaining a drive to succeed, and continuously pushing myself have been key factors in my growth. As an introvert, I found it challenging at first to network and make connections. However, stepping out of my comfort zone and occasionally playing the role of an extrovert has opened many doors for me.
Success doesn’t come from comfort or waiting for opportunities to fall into your lap. It requires hard work and dedication beyond the standard eight-hour workday. The goal is to eventually work less, but that’s not the starting point. I’ve sacrificed many nights, weekends, and holidays, and I continue to do so because I understand the long-term rewards.
In summary, building genuine relationships and putting in the necessary effort are the true keys to scaling a business. Success is a journey that demands persistence, sacrifice, and a proactive approach to networking and personal growth.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a Creative & Brand Director in social marketing, my career spans over 13 years with some of the most esteemed and exciting clients in the entertainment, fashion, and beauty industries.. I’ve been fortunate to seamlessly transition between these fields, allowing me to apply and tailor my social marketing expertise uniquely to each industry.
In the entertainment industry, I serve as a creative director for film studios and social agencies, primarily focusing on horror films. Over the past decade, I’ve played a pivotal role in the social marketing of nearly every major horror film, leveraging my niche expertise to create compelling campaigns that resonate with audiences on various social platforms.
In the fashion and beauty industry, my role involves helping brands scale their businesses on Meta. This includes devising creative solutions with impactful ads and enhancing customer experiences through optimized landing pages that drive purchases. I thrive on finding the perfect balance between visually stunning and high-performing creative content.
What truly sets me apart from other creatives is my approach to leadership and my focus on business outcomes. Unlike many creatives who prioritize their personal portfolios and often lead with ego, I prioritize the success and revenue growth of my clients. My objective is to scale brands or sell movie tickets for a new film, ensuring that my creative work drives tangible results for my clients.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I have had the opportunity to lead teams of up to 10 employees. Maintaining high morale within my teams has been a key priority, and I believe trust plays a crucial role in achieving this. Here are some pieces of advice based on my experience:
Set Realistic Expectations: While I don’t expect perfection from my team or any team I work with, I do expect excellence. Recognizing that we are all human and imperfect helps create a supportive atmosphere where team members feel comfortable taking risks and innovating. Excellence in work and self-conduct should be the standard.
Encourage Growth and Development: Providing opportunities for professional growth and development is essential for maintaining high morale. I support my team members in pursuing training, attending industry events, and expanding their skill sets. This investment in their future not only benefits the individual but also enhances the team’s overall capabilities.
Celebrate Achievements: Recognizing and celebrating both individual and team achievements boosts morale and motivation. Whether it’s a successful project completion, a creative breakthrough, or personal milestones, acknowledging these moments fosters a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.
Promote Work-Life Balance: Encouraging a healthy work-life balance is vital for long-term morale and productivity. I strive to create an environment where team members feel empowered to manage their workload effectively and take time for themselves when needed. This approach helps prevent burnout and ensures sustained enthusiasm for their work.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Here’s two things; 1, Loyalty: I have consistently demonstrated loyalty to my clients. This loyalty has fostered long-term relationships and created a strong network of professionals who trust and support each other. Being dependable and committed has shown that I value the people I work with, which in turn has reinforced their loyalty to me. 2, Mutual Respect: Building mutual respect has been crucial. I always strive to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their role or status. This approach has cultivated a positive working environment where people feel valued and respected, which has strengthened my professional relationships.
