Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrea Vowels. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
A risk I have taken is committing to staying home as a full time mom and content creator after having both our boys! I was a kindergarten teacher for 7 years and also had my home account as a way to share all my love for interior design. In the past 3 years we have had our two boys and we took a risk for me to stay home, not knowing if we could manage that (money wise) and it has been the best thing we ever did. I love being able to focus on my page and sharing all our favorite finds we use daily with our family!
Andrea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my page when we bought our first home 7 years ago with my husband. I have always loved decorating and interior design and I started sharing our journey as new home owners and decorating ideas. It has now changed to a platform where I share all our favorite amazon, walmart and target finds. I absolutely love sharing everything we use and also mix in recipes and ideas for decorating as well. I am now able to focus all my time on my page and stay home with my boys as well. I am so proud of the platform it has become and I am so lucky to be able to share daily with others!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My audience has been built by the content I share. When my reels go viral I gain a lot of new followers and attract them to my page. I post daily and that gives my platform a chance to be seen. If someone looks at my page and likes what they see they might follow! A page is basically a portfolio for someone to look at! Not only for followers but for brands as well. If you are just starting out I would say do not give up, things go slow sometimes and sticking to a daily routine is the best.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I would say I was able to go in full time as a content creator only since I had money saved up from when I was a full time teacher. You always have to have a job and save to be able to achieve higher goals!
