Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andrea Schlecht. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andrea, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I remember wanting to spoil myself for the first time in my life to a facial as well as some Botox 4 years ago. As soon as I walked into the spa I felt judged. Judged for the fact I had never had a facial before, judged for my skin not being in the best shape, judged for not having a 5 step skincare routine, and I felt that the price for my Botox was decided the moment I walked through the door.
That is when I decided to become the owner of a medspa to make a difference.
People are hard enough on themselves every single day and we usually are our own worst critics.
My mission with dermani Medspa is to be transparent every step of the way and help you feel your best and most confident. I want us to be listeners not critics. Your goals and expectations become ours and we are thrilled to be a part of your skincare journey.
We have a team of licensed and highly trained Estheticians and Injectors that truly want what is best for you. We strive to create an environment that makes our clients feel welcome and that they can trust to receive the only highest quality of service.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born and raised in Germany, and lived there until my husband, Mathias, and I moved here from Hamburg, Germany in 1997. Mathias is a successful leader in the oil industry and a huge supporter and mentor of start up companies. My MBA allowed me to work in the restaurant industry as a business consultant in Houston for many years, and solidified my passion for customer service.
Mathias and I opened dermani Medspa in December of 2o23. dermani is a franchise based out of Atlanta and we are proud to be the first location in Houston and the second in Texas.
Our passion is serving others and our surrounding communities with the best possible medspa experience around. Our integrity and dedication to the medspa industry standards paired with our love for people and customer service is what sets us apart. The dermani team is our extended family and we are thrilled to have created a work environment of trust and diversity.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
While the medspa industry is a highly regulated business, there are still too many holes that allow people to take risky shortcuts or avoid essential quality standards. This poses a huge risk for clients and it causes distrust and negative news.
Our mission is to rebuild that trust by operating on the highest level possible. Your safety, comfort, and health are always our top priority at dermani MedSpa, because we value our clients as individuals, not just customers.
For us, this means being transparent every step of the way and welcoming every question you might have when you walk through our door. We only work with the top and most trusted vendors in the industry that have stood the test of time, and every service that we offer has been FDA approved. Additionally, every team member is licensed and constantly exposed to continued education. We are very proud to say that we operate by the book and only do what is best for our clients.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Customer service is my biggest passion, and in the customer service industry I’ve always heard people say “the customer is always right”. While this was good advice, I remember learning that customer service is never about being wrong or right, and that, to me, is not just good advice, it is wise advice.
Customer service is first and foremost about listening and finding out the right solution for your customer and for your business. To this day it is something that we talk about in our staff meetings and trainings, because it is the foundation for collaboration and building an environment of mutual trust and respect with customers. It is so easy for us as humans to think that being right is what matters most in difficult and challenging situations, when in reality it is listening and compassion.
