We recently connected with Andrea McGhee and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I didn’t start out as a fitness enthusiast. I had always loved beauty, but when I gained 20 pounds my freshman year of college (2017), I had no choice but to become one. I originally started working out to “get the weight off,” but I had come to thoroughly enjoy it. Around that time, I was doing beauty content. Sprinkled among my beauty content was a few nutrition-related videos such as “Pescatarian Grocery Haul” and “How I Got A Flat Stomach in 30 Days.” I had already gained a large following and built rapport with my audience, but I felt like no one cared about fitness journey, so it was an outside hobby I did, while the beauty content was the star of the show.
Funny enough, the meal prep idea came to me in the shower. In 2024, I stopped putting out beauty and lifestyle content and lived as a “normie” for almost a year, until March 2025. Meal prep was something I had always done. I’ve known how to count calories for a long time (Did I do it right? Not always), so I had a little more knowledge when it came to how food works and how it contributes to your overall goals.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Andrea McGhee and I am a meal prep entrepreneur. I got into my craft in 2019 when I started lifting, but I decided to take it more seriously in 2025. I provide high protein meals for people who have busy lives or just need to learn the ropes when it comes to eating more consciously. I am most proud of the customer service that I provide my clients. I make any Prepped by Puff customer feel like family. The goal is for me to be part of your lifestyle, not just some girl you buy meal prep from. I also aim to educate people. It’s one thing to enjoy the food, but you end up appreciating it even more when you know what’s going into your body.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The end of 2024 was when I had to do something else. I had done beauty content for 6 years and I made wigs for 5, so beauty was all I knew. I was on and off with the gym, but it was still a budding interest of mine. Even when I wasn’t working out, I was always consuming some type of fitness content. I had taken a break from beauty content and I realized that my life looked different—not in a bad way though. I grew tired of not having anything to post when I wasn’t in the mood to “Get Pretty.” I wanted to be more private with my life, but still scratch the content/business itch. One could argue that you can post lifestyle content and keep your life private (which a lot of creators do) but I was burnt out. Me telling people “I make this kind of content, but I don’t watch it,” should have been the biggest indicator that Get Pretty With Puff was slowly grinding to a halt.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
In my case, the most effective strategy for building clientele is to invite them into the process of how their purchase comes together. In addition to that, I’d say authenticity has been my greatest asset. The same people that purchased wigs from me in 2022 are the ones that purchase meal prep from me in 2026. Why? Because I am open and authentically myself.
