We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrea Lovegrove . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrea below.
Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The idea of opening a wedding venue came a long time ago , since I was young I wanted to be involved in the event industry, I attended culinary school in Mexico and start working as pastry chef for a big catering company we produced around 600 events a year with around 800 guest each . After 2 years I moved to Madrid for a semester to expand my studies, right after that I moved to Charleston to learn English and keep studying , I worked for some local restaurants and really quick discovered that I wanted to work in the wedding industry , I start working for a wedding planner in NY and the plan was moving back to my hometown in Mexico and open a wedding venue right after that I found my better half and decide to settle in Charleston. After a couple years , 3 beautiful kids and looking for a stunning place Lovegrove Estate finally came to life on May 2021.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Lovegrove Estate is a waterfront event and wedding venue , we love classic southern garden events . For us is a privilege to be the backdrop where many of you create amazing memories with your loved ones , and believe us we don’t take it lightly every event stays with us in our heart.
Lovegrove Estate is still evolving and we have many surprises in the year to come for everyone , so stay tuned!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
We were looking for a stunning place to be the backdrop for events for awhile 4 years to be exact . It was not easy as in the area is many requirements to be able to host events in a property . We were close a couple of times to open the wedding venue in 2 different locations , that were snatch from us on closing day by other investors. Then after we found the place where now Lovegrove Estate is situated we needed to change a text amendment in the historic district and get all kind of approvals from the county . Many times I was ready to give up on the entire process but is short it and we love being part of gatherings and celebrations in life .

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Owning a business is constant change , you need to learn and re learn all the time . One of the biggest lessons is a successful event does not mean the same for everyone and you can’t probably make happy 300 people each day so you need to be ok with not everyone being happy or loving every aspect of it .
Often times it will not be on our own hands like people complaining about bad food or weather so you need to learn to roll with the punch and keep the sweetest moments of each event we have on site .
