We were lucky to catch up with Andrea Jenkins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My upcoming album, has been a therapeutical journey for me. I’ve been writing since I was 12 but I love that I write these songs, record them and bring them to life. My songs are very relatable, so I think that most will find that intriguing.
Each song means something to me, throughout the different chapters in my life & particularly the past year!
Andrea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started modeling in 2010, started YouTube in 2018, became a full time influencer in 2019 & won best screenplay through the London City Film awards. I was in the Global Miss Jetset competition 2 years in a row- both times as a quarterfinalist. I wrote & recorded my first song “Royaltea” feat Zentazy in 2021 based on a Media mishap with Newsbreak confusing me with a different Andrea Jenkins.
My song has been played on multiple FM and online radio stations across the World.
I am also releasing my first book in 2 month’s, as well as recording a docu-series.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I am a mom of 5, lost my mother. Had a very toxic marriage- I still maintained my social media presence and continued to persevere through it all. Many of my fans have become friends to me and it’s great to chat with them and learn their stories as well! As a survivor of domestic violence and rape, I give it all to God and want my children to grow up seeing that no matter what, I kept going!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being able to express myself through art. Whether that be my writing, my music, or modeling. I try to “paint a picture” so to speak. When someone writes me and says “I was just listening to your song & dancing to it in my car!” Or people say “You inspire me!” It makes it all worth it :)
