We recently connected with Andrea Hunter and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Passion. Hands down this is one of the most important qualities to have in the wedding photography industry. Passion helps you create beautiful images and art, helps to keep your chin up in hard seasons or in difficult situations, and motivates you to give your all for your awesome couples!
Andrea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Andrea-Marie, an Asheville based photographer specializing in intimate weddings. I am fueled by capturing perfectly imperfect love stories that will last a lifetime and will authentically exemplify who God created you to be.
My photography journey started back in 2015 while during mission work overseas for a year. Before heading overseas I had planned to be a counselor and focus on the mental health sector, but God had other plans and made it very known. When I arrived back on American soil I continued chasing that vision until going full-time in the wedding industry in 2018 and I hadn’t looked back.
I have a long history of customer service, logistics, and administration roles which I would like to think serves my couples very well. I enjoy helping not only to prepare them for their photos, but help be a fri-endor (friend/vendor) that they truly can trust and lean on during their planning and big day!
How did you build your audience on social media?
I know people are so tired of this word but I try to be authentically me. My goal is for you to see my heart in whatever I post or share, whether its sharing about my personal life, tips and tricks for couples to rock their big days (mine own or others), sharing images that make you feel them in your soul, or goofy giggly things to brighten your day. All is me, all invited people in!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth or someone who has seen me work before (ie. was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed). These are typically dream clients! They have seen not only the final result of the images we captured but they have also seen me work to capture those. It is very special because you have seen me truly in my element and you want me to be that person for you too.
