We were lucky to catch up with Andrea Huguley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Over the years, studies show that people who take periodic breaks during their workday are actually more productive!
As a travel agent it is imperative for me to find opportunities to travel to new destinations so that I can learn and better help my clients.
As a teacher, we break for holidays throughout the year, so it is easy to schedule vacations.
However, many professions do not have holiday breaks. In these situations, it is up to you to determine when is the best time to schedule a vacation.
Aside from working around your calendar and business obligations, you may have flexibility in choosing dates for time off.
When selecting your vacation days, consider if you have a specific event you would like to attend. This will help narrow your focus.
If family or other people are involved in your vacation, you’ll have to collaborate to determine the best time for your vacation.
Once you’ve decided on a time period, an agent can help you find options for travel, tours, and more so that you can make the most of your time off!
Keep in mind the importance of taking breaks from the daily grind. Not only do vacations rejuvenate our soul, they provide a reset button for our physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being.
Delegate duties and tasks to other employees, or find a coworker who will help manage any situations that arise while you are away.
Alternatively, you can return the favor by supporting your peers when they take a vacation!
If properly scheduled and organized, business owners do not have to feel guilty or concerned about taking a vacation.
Andrea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been a planner. Working as a public educator for over 15 years, planning is in my nature.
I discovered that I could make a living by helping others with their vacation and travel planning!
I do more than just book a hotel room. I provide custom itineraries for clients who are looking for a complete packaged vacation.
We handle everything from flights to private transfers, to all-inclusive resorts, excursions, tours and more!
I’m hosting a Travel with a Travel Agent group trip to Jamaica in April 2024 for anyone interested in joining us!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
It is important for me to stay in touch with clients. Every client has my direct contact information and mobile number.
I am available to help answer questions, making dining reservations, and provide support for mobile apps, travel insurance and more.
Quality over quantity when it comes to providing my clients with high-end, top rated experiences.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I am still in the early stages of growing my business, however utilizing a combination of consistency on social media with local interactions in my community has helped me make contacts and build my client base.
Word of mouth is extremely valuable because clients share their positive experiences with others.
