We were lucky to catch up with Andrea Holt Melissa Christensen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea Holt , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission isn’t just a bunch of random words thrown onto a whiteboard. For us, it’s personal. The mission is the reason we started this thing in the first place: to build transparent, meaningful relationships and challenge an industry that got too comfortable recycling the same tired playbook. We believe PR should be about creating impact, not noise.
The world doesn’t need more brands whispering into the void. It needs more voices with the guts to stand for something (and get media attention doing it). We’ve seen how a well-told story can change the trajectory of a company, a career or a cause. That’s why we get up and do it every day.
At the end of the day, our mission is to arm the underdogs, the disrupters and the difference makers with the firepower to cut through the noise while being fully transparent with our clients and ourselves.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We’re publicists at our core. With decades of experience leading full-scale digital media campaigns, we’ve got a keen eye for PR opportunities that help you reach your digital marketing goals and double as repeatable media content. We specialize in exceptional storytelling to penetrate key media targets, earning coverage that actually moves the needle. We got into PR because we love to help brands tell meaningful stories. We launched Vigilante PR to create lasting communication strategies that create impact.

How did you build your audience on social media?
We didn’t “build an audience” the way most people talk about it, we earned attention by being authentic and using collaboration posts to benefit our clients and our agency. In 30 days, our content has been seen more than 200,000 times, reaching over 18,000 accounts, with nearly 94% of that reach coming from people who don’t even follow us yet. If you’re only talking to your followers, you’re doing it wrong.
Our top posts and reels are pulling 16K, 15K, 5K+ views—and nearly 70% of our interactions come from non-followers. Translation: the content is cutting through and pulling in fresh eyes. That doesn’t happen by playing it safe. It happens when you put real, engaging stories out there and don’t obsess over whether every post “fits the grid.”
Advice for anyone just starting? Stop creating boring content calendars. Start chasing impact. Post the kind of content that makes people stop scrolling and actually feel something—whether that’s intrigue, curiosity or a little jolt of rebellion. Be consistent, be clear about who you are and don’t be afraid to piss off the wrong audience (it’s how you attract the right one!).
Our growth isn’t about hacks. It’s about authenticity with an edge. That’s the blueprint we’re running with, and so far, the numbers back it up.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
We spent most of the last decade running an award-winning PR team at a high-profile Boulder agency. We were all-in on the vision and worked obscene hours, kicking ass for major clients while managing an increasingly growing staff. We poured our hearts into that company—until it all imploded under the weight of dishonesty and ultimately, betrayal.
Vigilante PR was born out of heartbreak, clarity and a little bit of rage alchemy. We took what we learned about people, promises and PR, and used it to create an agency rooted in loyalty, transparency and truth. We’re a strategic partner for brands willing to push boundaries, take risks and challenge the narrative.
We’re proud to report that in our first 90 days of business, we launched six powerhouse clients and earned more than 100 media placements, including significant coverage in national outlets and more than 25 minutes of local television airtime. So far, betting on ourselves and doing things the right way has certainly paid off.
