We recently connected with Andrea Guerra and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
We decided to open Balloons by Jolie in Austin because there was not any store who supplied biodegradable high-quality balloons in the area. I started in the balloon world by working for a balloon store in Houston, were I got a lot of knowledge on how to operate a store like this. Starting with a new company, in a new place were nobody knew us was very scary, but we decided to take the risk; and it was the best decision of our lives. Our mission is to supply all the balloon artists in the area with their need of high-quality balloons. Building the company’s name hasn’t been easy but we have learned so much and through social media we have been able to reach clients who eventually became friends.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got in the balloon industry in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. I started to work for another balloon store were I learned all about this beautiful balloon world. With my family, we decided to take the risk to open a store in Austin since we saw a gap in the market. There wasn’t any store like us in the area and that definitely helped us grow a lot. We are balloon suppliers, we sell different brands of biodegradable high-quality balloons that work well with different temperatures (especially on the Texas weather). We do our best to provide knowledge on starting in the balloon world and growing in it.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Starting a company after covid has been one of the most difficult things we have encountered. We have been working to get past of all the production issues. Finding products during this time is one of the hardest things we experience but we have worked our way out. We do a lot of thinking and planning on how to incorporate new brands and colors so we can supply our customers demand. Starting this year we thought we wouldn’t make it but after a lot of research and investment we started to see the sun after the storm. We have found the new ways and definitely it took a lot of thinking outside of the box to get were we are at right now.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We have done a lot of research within our customers. We use our social media as support to our customers, were they can find tips, how colors really look like and some funny videos of our everyday life. We believe we have made a difference in social media that way. We do not use social media to sell directly but to help them figure out colors, accessories and tips. We stay real on social media and as you see us in there is what you will see at the store.
