We recently connected with Andrea Guadalupi and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of my biggest challenge in life has been moving overseas! i come from Brindisi in Puglia, South Italy, and it was in 2014 that i felt that i needed a change in my life as i was feeling stuck and demotivated. I wanted to try something new and an experience overseas was something that i thoght it could give me a new life and something new to work on, especially working on myself. So i ended up booking a one way flight for Melbourne, Australia. i had some pockets money and my english was close to zero, so basically it was a new start, new city, new people and new job opportunities! After almost 9 years in melbourne i have had lots of different experience from meeting people from all over the world and listening to the tons of stories all of them had to share. different job opportunities some bad and some good, but such is life, when you keep yourself busy, there are always ups and downs and life moves fast and is full of lessons to learn! then in all of the experince i had, i decide to take part in the music journey with the Eat The Beat crew and now is almost 7 years we are working osn this weekly project, promoting club music and build a community of dance lovers. Taking risk is part of our lives and it always scares us the most, but on the other side you can achieve something that you never had, and with hard work and consistency everything can be done!

Andrea , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
i have been always passionete about electronic music and club culture so i have been for years going to parties and club to first enjoy the music and the enviroment and then to understand more about the industry and how things move! i started promoting music events at our club prtty much from scrach with almost zero contact here in Melbourne! Eat The Beat had started since just few years when i.ve joined them, and when i started we were working on building a community that could enjoy the music we provide. from social media to going around the city to meeting new people and creating new connecting was pretty much the first step, so that we could create the foundations of our weekly event. from that i decide to step into a dj career as i was so passionate about performig and sharing the music i love, and through thse years ive become a resident dj and i’m on stage almost every weekend. personally now i’m focising on my performances on stage, and studying music production so i can have always something new to share to the people who come and listen us! Social media helps us stay in contact with the community and our agency is always working to provide new music experiences with dj and producres from the world and working with different venues and locations

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well one of the hardest moment for me was in march 2020 as soon as the Covide Pandemic started! we close the club and we couldn”t operate and we were not sure about when we were going to get back managing music events. After a very good beginning as a dj resident i was now jobless and i had no idea of what to do next! so had to step back and see for different opportunity! i was lucky enogh to find a job in a construction company, which i still work for, and from that was just all about keep going working on the job and myseldf to overcome the bad moments and wait for better days! i kept my passion for electronic music and started step into music production, to keep myself learnig new things! it has been a very challenging period for everyone in the world, and for me i just kept stay humble and taking care of my phisical and mental health. then we slowly started to operate again and now i feel part of the little moviment we have created with eat the beat! a simple advice i’d like to share is that nothing is easy and we have to work hard on our golas and dreams every day regardless of whats goign on around us, our biggest challenge is with ourseves and we need to just keep trying to get better than the person we were yesterday!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
i think as i really love music and the club scene, it is important to have in mind that there are people out there who came to enjoy the party the music and the people around, on every performance i’m trying my best to put out the sounds that i like and give always a positive vibe to the people listening, their enjoyment is the most rewording things for me! seen people happy, smiling and having a great time, that is all about! we sell emotions in the end, we want to share music and good energy, and we wanr this community to keep growing as we share peace love and unity!
