We recently connected with Andrea Ferrero and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Currently, I’m launching my own music project. Throughout all my life, I’ve worked with so many artists, in so many different companies, which has been great, This journey has led me to perform in iconic venues worldwide, giving me a ton of unforgettable experiences that I’m seriously thankful for. However, I decided to take a step that used to scare me a bit, but not anymore, I decided to start releasing some of my own music, proving that a guitar can also sing, and that it is not necessary to be a singer to be the main artist. My first song just came out on November 30th, it’s called “Quedate”, a collaboration with 3AM. The process of creating this song holds particular significance for me, not only because it marks my debut but also due to the collaboration with my dear friends from 3AM. This marks just the beginning, and I am genuinely thrilled to start sharing my music with the world.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started playing the guitar when I was 9 years old. I truly believe that I’ve always been in love with the guitar. I remember that as a child, every time I would see someone playing a guitar, in my head, that was like the coolest thing someone could do. So when my parents noticed my desire for playing this instrument, they got me one for Christmas. Soon after this, I started playing at a church, then I got into a music school to start learning some music theory. I began playing for some artists in my country, touring a little bit, and years later, as soon as I graduated from high school, I got a full tuition scholarship to start studying at my dream university: Berklee College of Music.
After graduating from Berklee in 2021, I moved to Los Angeles, California, to start working for Netflix at Happy Madison Productions, Adam Sandler’s company, where I worked as a Music Consultant. Besides doing this, I also started working as a session musician and touring with so many different artists, such as NIKI, Benee, Karol G, Jax, Daya, and more…
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
So I left my country, Venezuela, and moved to Boston when I was 17 years old to start studying in my dream university, Berklee College of Music. It was a wonderful experience and I became the happiest person when I heard that I was accepted and that I had received a full tuition scholarship, however, this wasn’t easy at first, my country Venezuela is caught up in a tough situation due to the dictatorship, making my transition to Boston a significant challenge. Even when I made it there, there were some personal challenges that I was dealing with such as navigating the distance from my family, adapting to a new culture and language, and more. At the end of my first year at college I also when through a fire in my apartment, where I lost all of my stuff, such as my guitars, computer, clothes, everything. This was rough, but it was also worth it. I personally believe that everything happens for a reason and sometimes we need to be strong and keep chasing our dreams no matter what
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I feel that being an artist or creative is undoubtedly a challenging journey, sometimes our art might not be understood or people might not take us seriously. Yet, for me, it stands as the most fulfilling and meaningful path, one I wouldn’t trade for anything else. As individuals, I believe we all should have the freedom to express ourselves, to discover that escape from the world. I count myself fortunate to have stumbled upon that refuge in the form of music.
