We recently connected with Andrea Ester and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Andrea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I started beading as a hobby in 2003. During that time, I would spend time in local bead shops and sometimes sign up for different classes. I would also buy books and watch videos online. The people working at the bead stores became familiar with me and eventually I would be able to ask simple questions to learn new tips and tricks. If I was selling the jewelry I was making, I may have been able to afford Bedding is not guaranteed and is based on availability at check-in bead classes to learn more at a faster pace, but I do like the idea of “the struggle”. I appreciate my craft more.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Andrea, owner and designer of Bijoux de Delone. I am a wife, mother of two, and owner/ designer of Bijoux de Delone, LLC. I have been making handmade jewelry and other accessories since 2003. My work has been used in weddings, photoshoots, local magazines, and on movie sets. Bijoux de Delone, LLC is a home based business located in New Orleans, LA, but sells online, at local events, and a local stores.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the feeling I get when I see the face of someone who is excited when I present them with the idea they had for their jewelry. I love to hear people talk about my work at showings. I like to know what other people think of my work.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The biggest goal I have for my creative journey…. is to see how far this will go. I would love for this to be something that I could pass on to my children’s children.
I would also like to see how many states Bijoux de Delone can grace, or even countries.
