Andrea “Dre Mav”, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I am hoping to build a legacy of love-Love for everything, love for everyone. I truly love my work, the people I am blessed to collaborate with, the projects that I receive, & the impact made through such. After I am gone, I think people will say I was honest, hard-working, positive, funny & authentic. I think my qualities will overweigh my flaws or mistakes. I hope to be remembered for the light and love I gave, the many I helped and served, & I pray that God allows me to fulfill my purpose in name of the greater good.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Andrea Mavares (Dre Mav) was born in the Magic City- Miami on June 4th, 1984. Since a very young age she was mesmerized by the entertainment industry. Coming from a very musically inclined family, she was naturally drawn to music and the arts. During her school years, Andrea recorded her own music at local recording studios and was a part of the chorus through which she was given many soloist positions. Andrea participated in school talent shows and other productions that allowed her to be recognized & share her talents with the world. At the age of 12, she joined Just Dance It Dance Studios under the direction of Alina Lanza where she quickly became one of the stars of the Advanced Competition Team and alongside her teammates won many awards. When Andrea was 15, she began working for a banquet hall as the resident Master of Ceremony, Choreographer and “press & play” DJ. Andrea has provided Event Planning and Master of Ceremony services for all types of events in the South Florida area for over 20 years now, and completed the Event Planner course with TRENDIMI. Andrea graduated from Miami Media School in 2017 in Radio, Broadcasting and Media. She has 3 internet radio shows (Our House, GirlTLKRadio & 305 Radio) previously on Miami Underground Radio, providing a platform for all types of people/businesses to display their talents, promote events, assist in charity/volunteer work, and much more. Andrea was the Project Manager/Corporate Casting Director and a Voice Over/Dubbing Talent at VOA Studios Miami from 2017-2020, being hands-on with international projects from prestigious clients such as Netflix. Andrea is currently a Crew Member of Day By Day Lifestyles Ent., Inc. and The Vigilante Movement, & continues to collaborate independently with other artists in photography, documentaries, songwriting, performance, production and recording of music and other types of productions. You may even catch Dre as an “extra” in a movie? In addition, Andrea is a Contributor to 305 Magazine. In June of 2022, she formed her LLC with The State of Florida establishing Dre Mav Productions. From November 2022-2023, Dre Mav Productions was a part of Tubox 101.1 FM in Downtown Miami providing support to the station as Office Manager and inhouse production company affiliate. Girl TLK Radio and 305 Radio- A Miami Podcast was LIVE on Saturdays starting at 10am ET. A new season of Girl TLK Radio launched on digital platforms in June of 2023 & won The Podcast Spotlight Award from the 2nd Annual Content Creators Experience Spotlight Award Ceremony. So far, in 2024, it’s been busy with weekly events, interviews, shows & preparations for this year’s charitable events. Stay connected to see what’s next…
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I think helped me build my reputation within this market is my work ethic along with my unique talents. I do good, honest work. Keeping your face and hands clean, especially in this industry is very important. I don’t advertise my business. All of my business comes from referrals. So, I let my work speak for itself.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had to pivot in business, career, life & even relationships so many times. It’s made me learn that there is beauty in change. Perhaps in the moment, it doesn’t feel that way. At every turning point, I’ve experienced fear, doubt, & sadness but faith and determination alway sees things through. As long as you are certain of what’s in your heart and mind & take action to get closer to those things, a little pivot may what you need to get there.
Recently, personal situations led me to reaching out to people in my network for extra work. My Health Insurance Agent hired me to help out with marketing and events. Now, after a few months in, I am in the process of becoming a Health Insurance Agent myself. This pivot has redirected me into a new industry that I never thought I’d be a part of. I’ve met such beautiful people during this time. I am so grateful for this opportunity to blend all my talents while helping people physically, mentally emotionally and Spiritually.
