Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Andre Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Andre, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I were starting over I wouldn’t!!!!! I wouldn’t do anything different at all. I love my progress; I trust my process just wanting to get there faster for me takes away everything that was worth it. The growth the lessons what you can give out now that you lived it. I didn’t have capital, relationships and connections. I broke as H E double hockey sticks with a best friend ha-ha. But see everyone that has the faster upbringing in the industry that’s cool I watch it from a far lens but I’m ok with how I got to my position and how I’m getting to the top. People ask me “why you shredded?” Because I’m used to working my way up, I’m used to making my way up coming from that place I’m making my way. I don’t mind taking the stairs to get to the top. If your way is the elevator that’s fine but me, I got to experience the tough position when your tired self-doubt and how strong and willing I am to persevere and keep going. I’m cool with the challenge either way we going to get there. That’s word to Ace Hood

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hey, I am Andre A’Todd Williams from Austin, TX and I am an actor and artist. I’ve been in the film industry now for about 8 years and it has been a grind, but the fruits are blossoming. My start in the industry came about when I was going for an audition to be an extra for a basketball situation. i ended up being sent home not making it. I later got the call to come in to be an extra I guess they didn’t find what they were looking for or did they ha-ha. The story gets really deep but let’s just fast forward and say I ended signing to the show as a guest star recurring. The show was American Crime Season 2, action drama filled with unbelievable talent, it was an honor to have the opportunity. My problems going in was being so green having to adjust and learn quickly yet professionally. I wanted to be at my best and I owe that all to the game of basketball because learning hard work ethics, a willingness love and passion to learn, discipline and being pose and under control when things were tight and difficult was and has been the potion to being at my best, being who I am. I am most proud of doing this all on my own, no cosigns, no industry relationships, no handouts just me.!!! I know building a community and having those relationships and ties is what keeps you fresh in the game but to do it that way from the beginning makes me know that I can do anything when I put my all into it. The situation has made me want to build my brand and elevate the ones who look in my direction for inspiration. I may not know it all or have it all, but I have this story for people to look at and get fueled by. It made me build a brand that I would love to insert here but Ima get it copywritten so I don’t have any issues when I do come out because this is fire it’s my life all in one you can learn more about it through my social medias and we’ll get to hat later.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Well, I just wish there was affordable resources there so many people that need to be in those intensives, workshops, classes but can’t afford them on a consistent basis. We know it’s an investment but when these people with this knowledge have it at a high price it cuts out the people like I was that can’t afford that. It’s another bill and we are scrapping the plate to get by. So, I just wish back in the day those resources were more obtainable in price for people. Now me figuring out is not the ordinary everyone is not going to do it like that but that’s why people are resilient and go getters.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The time I had to pivot in life and career was from sports to acting. I was this guy with athletic talent and no real opportunity to show my all (I definitely take ownership on that). But after college I just had a second wind and was getting opportunities for private workouts, being on practice teams and even finishing out the season with a team in another country. I felt like I was going to get what I had dreamed of by playing basketball for a team in Australia. Really thought I was making a way my way. Don’t mean to get spiritual, but God had to show me I wasn’t listening. That door was shutting, and I was trying to bully my way in, so he (God) shut in my face for me to understand it’s over. And when my head was going down, he picked it up and showed me what door was opening one that I was at for a long time but was just timid to twist the nob. Acting!!!! I even got to leave it out one last hooray on the court as a hooper lol and I got to retire that dream with my head held high, smile on my face and the people who really love me be proud of me.
