We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andre Walker Jr . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andre below.
Andre, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’m not quite happy as an artist yet, because, there’s so much impact that I want to make within the genre of LoFi.
I’d like to introduce LoFi as the go-to genre to for common tasks like cleaning the house, hanging out with loved ones, or studying. I’d also like to continue to contribute to the collaborative community within the genre of LoFi. Lastly, I’d like to be known as one of the greats within the genre of LoFi, going. beyond making great beats, being an artist who shares knowledge, processes, and someone who connects with artists and fans even as I continue to grow.
My happiness will grow as I accomplish this.
Outside of producing music, I work as an A&R Rep at a sync licensing company called, Musicbed. I get the opportunity to connect with artists, and, connect their music to motion-picture. This career allows me to find the balance between doing what I love; Making LoFi Beats, vs doing what I love for a living; Making LoFi Beats for a living, and right now, I enjoy making LoFi beats and am not quite yet ready to do this for a living.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Andre Deon Walker Jr. I was born in Virginia Beaches, Virginia, but grew up in Chicago.
While I was finishing my undergrad in college, I needed some music to help me focus, and I came across Chilled Cow (Now LoFi Girl) and Chillhop Music (Chillhop Records). When I found this music, I fell in love with listening to LoFi, so much so that I had to contribute to the genre. Now, I make LoFi beats under the moniker Hanover Park and contribute to the genre solving the problem of people needing chill music to listen to that will help them focus whether they’re in college or not.
I’m most proud of not quitting because I tried to make LoFi at least a few times, and when I couldn’t figure it out, I put the keyboard down for a while and pursued other things. Now, making LoFi beats is what I love to do, and I am happy doing just that while helping people to find chill beats to listen to.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I read 13 books on Music production in three weeks, and they gave me the knowledge to mix and master my songs. If you’re a producer or want to be a producer and you want to know what these books are, then please DM me on Instagram. In conclusion, I recommend that people discover the proper knowledge needed to master the crafts they claim to love most!
