We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andre Tyrone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andre below.
Hi Andre , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first believed and knew that I wanted to sing after my first church solo in the children’s choir, I was very nervous when they gave me the song but I knew who to go to for help. My grandmother Betty Jo Robinson (R.I.P) I gave her the cassette tapes and asked her to help me learn the song and for the next two weeks she worked with me now my grandmother was not the best singer but she loved to sing for the lord! She had me write the words out to the song every day before I ever sang a note! Then we would listen to the song on Sundays before services and after service! I actually never sang the song in front of her until then day came!
I remember it so well! She was sitting in her normal spot on the third row and it was time to sing, I started to sing and it felt so right, then half way through the song I felt a small burst of power coming up from my legs and into my voice, I shock it off and finished the song. After service I told my grandmother what happened and she said “that was the holy ghost and next time don’t shake it off” Ever since that day all I have been chasing is that feeling and I always feel it when I get on stage even when I sing R&B/Soul music the amazing feeling I get is everything to me.

Andre , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Artist is who I am, for years it was hard for me to say this and mean it!
It is true WE are our biggest critics and for years I believed that I was not good enough so when others who say the same thing I would have no trouble believing them. The amount of projects I have been on and songs I have helped write with no credit was because I didn’t know the industry. I knew I had to do better so I found a mentor I actually found two these two guys help me on both ends of music, from a mental and emotional point I was helped to believe how unique my gift was and that Is what makes me amazing!! and from the business side, I was helped to understand that covering yourself and protecting your words is so very important. Wendel Dandrige and Tavarus Wilson are truly God-sent!
One thing that makes me the best at what I do is I work best under pressure I shine my best when I’m against the clock. I wrote two of my biggest songs “Dangerous Game” and “WIN” under pressure.
I came into this game thinking that I had to be better that other artist, I now know that I have to create my own lane and invite others to ride next to me. Not for sport but for motivation, when they doubt me, then I show up and show out, when they don’t believe in me, I pour more belief into myself. I am here to be the best me that I can, telling my story though my music is my mission.
I am the underdog and and I’m fine with showing up and showing out, because while other artist are looking for who they are, I have accepted what I’m not, I am not a bad singer or an “ok” writer I am an amazing singer and my writing skills are also amazing.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew about the groups of people who are here to help you be the best you.
I have been apart of some therapeutic writers groups and have has some of the most amazing conversations about the love of music.
In my earlier years I didn’t have anyone to tell me about copywriting laws and protecting yourself when you write for others or even for yourself.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal has always been to put on a huge concert with some of my close music friends opening for me! Having a room full of people who have comet o see me would be a dream, yes, injave been part of concerts and have had an small album release part but because I didn’t believe in myself I aimed small and that is what I got!
My goal is to have the light, big stage with the background singers and the live band all there for me! I want to shake hands and sign pictures and take selfies with my supporters.
