We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andre Boada a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andre, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
In my case, this applies to formalizing two companies. (1) Vinocadre, a platform that works business-to-business consulting for wineries nationally but also doubles down with sommelier-inspired food & wine experiences for the consumer. The second company, Six Twists Sparkling, Fredericksburg, TX offers a dazzling array of sparkling wines from around the world within an educational lounge atmosphere. Both were formulated using a marketing strategy called gap analysis. I looked at the business universe surrounding each company and found opportunity gaps not being offered.
Vinocadre formalized seamlessly due to my prior 20-year history of building brands. During that history, I specialized in all aspects of winery development. It’s just a matter of using these skills, based on winery needs when consulting and defining operations.
Six Twists Sparkling was definitely a challenge due to securing a space and building out a unique offering. The result, a worldly educational experience offering over 75 sparkling wines, many by the glass using trained professionals to educate consumers. The location rounded out within an artisan village called Elk & Main in downtown Fredericksburg, TX.
Andre, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Andre’s passion for food & wine started at a young age being groomed by European parents. He quickly expanded by living in Napa-Sonoma and spearheading brand development for Jackson Family Wines and multiple artisan wineries. He recently started kicking Tx winery dirt via his wine consulting company, VinoCadre now based in Fredericksburg, Tx. Known for his bantering demeanor, he speaks at major events including Food & Wine Magazine nationally. That coupled with his freelance writing for Rock & Vine and a wine judge for many International wine competitions make him a leader in the industry.
Andre holds the distinction of Advanced Sommelier from The Court of Master Sommeliers and welcomes you to explore his knowledge through his educational seminars offered at Six Twists Sparkling, 425 East Main Street, Fredericksburg, TX
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is built from character and that essence is usually found through mentoring from leaders in the industry you want to pursue. I’ve been blessed with many mentors who helped me overcome adversity. Nothing is easy in embodying a new business, yet mentors who have succeeded give you insights. Look for these leaders and learn what you can. Ask hard questions and push forward.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Trust your employees and multiply yourself through training. It’s a risk-reward mechanism that always prevails over time.
