We were lucky to catch up with Andraya Grangroth recently and have shared our conversation below.

Andraya , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

When Bevan, founder of Ridge Patrol, first ventured out to hunt for spring turkey and winter waterfowl, she avoided being seen in the public in her hunting clothes. She felt unflattering in the man-cut clothing and would change at the truck before leaving the field. A vision of a women’s specific outdoor and hunting clothing line was born. “You deserve clothing that can keep up with you in the field, no matter what trail you take” Quickly became the mantra we would soon establish behind our brand.

Draya, co-founder of Ridge Patrol, grew up in a family reliant on hunting and as a child would hunt in the clothes her mother sewed for the kids. These clothes were often too big, unflattering, restrictive and non-breathable, making it difficult to hunt and uncomfortable to be in. Later in life Draya became a professional hunting guide and found the struggle was still there to find clothes that were made for the various body types of women.

When Draya met Bevan to try on the very first prototypes, they connected instantly and formed a partnership in the new established company, Ridge Patrol.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Being a women owned company, in a male dominated industry, we know first hand the needs that women are facing in finding quality outdoor clothing. Draya, the co-founder who is also a professional hunting guide, spends 300 days a year in the field. This gives Draya the ability to test the Ridge Patrol clothes to their max potential, setting our company apart from our competitors. We take great pride in being a USA made company and hope to stay that way as we continue to grow. As women, we all have various body types, and at Ridge Patrol we strive to make clothes with the proper fabrics and design to meet all the unique needs of outdoor women. Our clothing line has made women confident in their appearance, whether they are on the mountain, on the town or on any outdoor adventure. Witnessing first hand, we have experienced a beautiful sisterhood has started to evolve within the women who wear our clothes as they explore wild places, and for that we are grateful.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

Bevan, the founder of Ridge Patrol met Draya because she was looking for women to try on the first prototypes. Draya, being an avid hunter, muscular built, and standing at just 5’1″ was able to give feedback to Bevan on how the clothes fit, and where they needed improvement. Draya was more than happy to test out the clothes on a Arizona deer hunt, and soon was helping Bevan with the Ridge Patrol Instagram and promoting the new up and coming women’s specific clothing line. It was all history from there as these two women made a great team, bringing their own skillset to the table.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

When we first started to promote Ridge Patrol on Instagram we had only 333 followers. The question was, “how do we build our audience without our final product in hand?” Ever since we started this business we have made it a goal to stay authentic and let our company organically grow, and we have succeeded in doing so. During the summer of 2020 Draya spent most of her summer days in the field scouting for elk, deer and bear. In doing so she was able to test out the gear to its limits and shared her adventures on social media. The number of followers started to increase, and the demand for our clothing was building. Through Draya’s persistence in the field, our future cliental were able to get a look into the heart and passion behind the brand.
