We recently connected with Anderson Nguyen and have shared our conversation below.
Anderson, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you manage your own social media?
As a content creator, social media isn’t just a tool. It is the heart of what I do. It is where I get to express myself, share my content, and connect with people all over the world. Because of that, I manage it myself. It is personal to me. Every post, every interaction, and every piece of content I put out reflects who I am, so I want to be the one behind it.
That being said, social media is a journey. It is not always easy. There are mean comments, and it is easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. But at the same time, it is an incredible space to build a real community, meet like-minded people, and create opportunities you never would have expected.
For anyone running a business in 2025, having a social media presence is not optional. It is essential. It is one of the best ways to connect with your audience, tell your story, and build something that lasts. Whether you manage it yourself or hire a team depends on what makes the most sense for you, but at the end of the day, authenticity matters. People can tell when something feels real, and that is what makes social media so powerful.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I create videos that teach people how to save money when buying food. Online, I am known as the Professional Food Hacker because I break down ways to maximize your meals at popular restaurants like McDonald’s, Chipotle, and Chick-fil-A. Whether someone is on a tight budget or just enjoys watching me go to extreme lengths to save a dollar, my content provides value in a fun and entertaining way.
What sets my content apart is how accessible it is. The food hacks I share are things that anyone can do, which is why they resonate so well with my audience. People see my videos and think, “Wait, I can totally do this!” That relatability is a big part of what makes my brand work.
I started my content journey four years ago while working as a software engineer. I have always been passionate about food and finding ways to save money, so I thought it would be fun to combine both and share it with others. What started as a side project has now grown into a brand that reaches millions of people. Looking back, I am incredibly proud of how far it has come.
Looking ahead, I want to expand beyond food and explore ways to help people save money in other aspects of life, from travel to grocery shopping to everyday adulting. My goal has always been to make saving money fun, approachable, and something that people actually enjoy learning about.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I started my journey as both a full-time software engineer and a content creator in 2021. For the first two years, I made zero money from content creation, so my job in software engineering was what kept me afloat. That all changed in August 2023 when I was abruptly laid off, leaving me with no source of income.
At that moment, I had a choice. I could scramble to find another engineering job or fully commit to what I was most passionate about. Content creation had always been something I loved, so I decided to go all in. With more time on my hands, I dedicated everything to making videos. I challenged myself to post a video every day for months, and the results were life-changing. My audience grew from 80,000 followers to 500,000, and I realized just how powerful it was to focus completely on one goal.
That was a year and a half ago, and I still carry that same drive today. I am excited to keep pushing forward and see what the future holds.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
There is so much that goes into content creation that people do not see. As an audience, you only see the final product, not the scripting, filming, editing, and everything else that goes into making a single video. Beyond that, since I put my face online, there is constant scrutiny. People comment on my appearance, how I speak, the smallest actions I take, what I do, and what I do not do. It can be exhausting at times.
No matter how much I love what I do, there will always be someone who does not like it. And that is okay. I have been doing this for a few years now, so negativity does not bother me anymore. But for anyone starting out or thinking about getting into this industry, my biggest advice is to always be yourself and make videos that you genuinely enjoy. The right audience will find you.
Do not worry about the noise from the internet, or even from family and friends who may not understand your path. At the end of the day, this is your life, and you can choose what to do with it. I do this because when I look back one day, I want to feel proud of the journey and know that I spent my time doing something I truly loved.
