Alright, Ander thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Talk to us about building your team? What was it like? What were some of the key challenges and what was your process like?
Blacklight Group started in a college dorm room. As a senior in college, I needed to find a way to pay for law school. I realized that starting a company with my friends was the most appealing opportunity I could think of.
Once I drafted a viable business plan, I began to recruit a team of motivated, well spoken, ambitious friends.
I have been building teams and businesses since I was in second grade. As an ambitious 8 year old, I started a duck tape wallet business and recruited 4 of my best friends to help scale. Relative to my age, I felt wealthy. I had enough money to buy as many hot wheels as I wanted, for me; that was enough.
Throughout my childhood, I would go on start many ventures, building a team was always my favorite part. By the time Blacklight Group came intro fruition, I had an extensive enough network to build the most qualified and specialized team imaginable. I can truly say that what makes Blacklight Group so special is the people behind it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Ander Sevilla and I am a 26 year old CEO from Orange County, California. For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed about building my own empire with my friends.
I was never the best student, I was never the most athletic, I was never recognized as a high potential candidate in academia; the one skill I had above everyone around me was the ability to bring people together.
My love for bringing people together was only the first step in becoming a successful business owner. In order to form Blacklight Group, I went through years of missed opportunities and mistakes before I learned productive leadership qualities. Being able to identify an opportunity as well as motivating a team of people to work in the direction of the opportunity is a multifaceted challenge that I could have only learned through trial and error.
Blacklight Group is a multimillion dollar tech marketing company. With clients in over 23 industries, we pride ourselves in offering innovative and disruptive scaling solutions to businesses of all sizes.
The marketing industry has been terrible for far too long. Long term contracts, lack of result transparency, disproportionate pricing, to list just a few problems with the industry which we directly combat.
Blacklight Group is taking clients left and right, we will be the largest tech marketing company in the United States.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding my business was one of the most challenging aspects of getting it off the ground. As previously mentioned, I started my company while a senior in college. Given that the world was dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic at the time, classes were online.
This new found freedom allowed me to get two jobs in order to fund my entrepreneurial venture. I worked in a warehouse moving boxes from 5:25 am till 2 pm, I would go home for 2 hours and then go to my second job at a restaurant cleaning tables.
This was a very humbling experience; in my head I was the CEO of an up and coming tech company, in reality I was a mid level college student with two non career jobs. While I did not know it at the time, this experience would change my perspective on work ethic and has had a direct correlation with my ability to grow to this date.

Our client retention department is one of the most important departments at Blacklight Group. Tyler’s team of account managers do a phenomenal job of assuring client success.
Given that our founding partners range in age from 24-32, we place a tremendous emphasis on the longevity of our client relationships. We prioritize building foundations for long lasting, lucrative partnerships by ensuring readily available communication, data backed solutions, AI integrated dashboard which illustrates real-time results, as well as both quantitative and qualitative research driving analytical decisions behind our assets.
One of my favorite aspects in running Blacklight Group is building our extensive network. We are friends with our clients and often enjoy non business related activities with them. We often go golfing, host dinners, play basketball, and even vacation with our clients from time to time. We put healthy relationships and results above everything else.
