We recently connected with And The Animal and have shared our conversation below.
Hi And, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
We learned to create our unique Cinematic Electro-pop sound by embracing our diverse cultural and musical backgrounds, bringing our own influences to the table to blend elements of various genres and styles. Through collaborative experimentation with sounds and instruments, we found ways to merge our individual strengths into a cohesive sound that represents a collective vision that weaves EDM infused beats and pop melodies into a deep atmospheric soundscape. While our differences enriched our creativity, it sometimes led to misunderstandings during the creative process. The most essential skill for our journey was a willingness to learn from one another. Embracing our differences and remaining open to new ideas allowed us to continuously evolve, refine our sound, and find a balance between our individual artistic visions and the collective direction of the group.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We all fell in love with music at different times in our lives. Armando started banging on the drums when he was at eight at his friend’s house. Josie heard Whitney Houston on her boombox for the first time and decided to make a mixtape of all her favorite vocalists at five. Eric strung his first guitar in high school. We’ve all had very different musical interests and journeys. No matter which way we’ve gone, music has always been the beacon. We make music because we love to. We make music with each other because we admire each other’s talent. Our mission together is to make music our only job and our focus is locked on making our music and show better every day.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Discover music locally! Many independent artists perform and make music for the love of the craft and unfortunately do not get paid well or get offered shows if they do not already have an audience. Find shows at local venues and support, go be surprised at the artists that live in your area. Subscribe and follow artists that you like even if they’re small.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Connecting. Connecting with each other, with other musicians, and with listeners.
