We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anchandria Collins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anchandria below.
Anchandria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Collins is my family last name and Legacy came from what me and my husband is setting up to leave for generations ahead. Our goal is to create generational wealth. We have four children and plan to leave a legacy for them to carry on. So, we name our business Collins Legacy Tax & Credit Services. When you hear Collins Legacy you know what our company stands for.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Anchandria, a mother, wife, business owner and motivator. I have been in the tax business since the age of 17, My cousin mother name Nicole took me and my sister under her wings when she opened her tax business and taught us so much including doing taxes as well as running a business. She passed away a couple of years ago, and I continue to work at the tax office her husband continue to run up until 2019 is when I decided to leave. I learned so much and decided it was time to trust in myself and start my own so then I started learning about repairing credit. Me and my husband credit needed some work so I started doing research on how much it cost to get it repaired. OMG, it was expensive, So, I which the research up and started looking into how to repair it myself LOL. I repaired me and my husband credit and started taking classes and here I am with Collins Legacy Tax & Credit Services. Our clients come to us for tax preparation, credit repair, help with starting a new business, notary, help with keeping their business organized and business consultations. I am most proud of trusting in my ability to make it happen and my consistency of showing up everyday. I want potential clients to know we are company you can trust and trust and believe when you leave me you will be leaving motivated to accomplish whatever your goals are in life. I am big on motivating the ones around me.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My husband is my business partner and the best at what he does. We met each other in middle school, but we didn’t start dating until my senior year in high school. We broke up for about a year, ran into each other at the gas station after a night of clubbing and it started back from there LOL! We hit adulthood and life started getting real from there and we had to start figuring things out while raising kids. As they started getting older, We wanted more for our family and the only way to make that possible was for us to make the decisions of providing them with the life we wanted them to have. Nobody was going to come and hand us a golden key to life. So, here we are married, 4 kids later and running 2 businesses as well as helping our children with their business ventures. I love working with my husband, he is very straight forward, amazing with managing our finances and my biggest motivator . That smile he gives me still makes me blush. So thankful, to have him on this journey.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
There is never going to be a right time to start the best thing to do is to just start. I came up with so many excuses on why I wasn’t following my dreams and the my favorite line was “I’m waiting on the right time” then years started passing and next thing you know I’m in my 30’s with the same excuse. I remember thinking to myself you are really comforting yourself with excuses on why you are not believing in yourself. I was showing up to someone else company everyday on time, overworking myself and making their company looking good. Whatever job I worked I always got promoted to a higher position because my work ethic has always been top tier. Then, I started missing my children school programs and I don’t play when it comes to being in my babies life. So, I got rid of the excuses and just started, I started getting everything in order not knowing how everything was going to turn out and I still started and made it happen. Still figuring everything out to this day, but I will never underestimate my value again. I know what I am capable of and what I am trying to create for my family so, it’s no letting up. I will always “just start” with everything I do in life and figure it out along the way.
