We were lucky to catch up with Corsos in the Community, host of Cane Corso Meetup recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cane Corso Meetup, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
While taking our Corso out to a local dog beach she would run and try to play with the other pups there. However, we realized other dog owners were afraid of her and called their dogs away leaving our happy-go-lucky girl sad with no one to play with. One day, we posted online that we would be at that beach on a certain date and time and if anyone who owns a Corso is interested to please come so our dog had someone to actually play with. To our surprise over 25 Corsi showed up! It was a great day with a great group of well-behaved Corsos and their responsible owners. Before we knew it, people were asking when the next meetup would be, and from then on Cane Corso Meetup™ was born. We have since hosted Cane Corso Meetups™ around the US and internationally!
Each event is run by someone who is a responsible owner with a socialized and trained Corso and who is local and knows the area. They choose the date, location, and how detailed they want their specific Cane Corso Meetup to be.
Our mission is:
Bringing together the Cane Corso community to promote responsible socialization, ownership, and breeding. We serve as a platform to network with other Corso enthusiasts to help your Corso socialize with canines of similar stature. We also strive to spread awareness of the breed, so future owners are welcome to join to see these powerful and impressive canines up close.
With the breed’s growing popularity, we strive to provide education and resources to owners, and future owners, to provide these dogs with the best life and to keep them all out of shelters or rescues.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We at Corsos in the Community, host of Cane Corso Meetup, are the only group that provides owners a safe space to socialize with other Cane Corsos in a noncompetitive format. Our main goal is to bring the community together to provide events to expose their Corso to different elements, training, pack walks, fun games, and to provide education and resources on how to pick a good breeder, how to train their Cane Corso, and how to raise the healthiest dog.
What we are most proud of is that we have hosted events internationally. All over the US, along with Canada and the UK. Also, the fact that all our Cane Corso Meetups™ have been safe with no incidents!
What we want people to know the most is the amount of time, energy, money, and effort it takes to own a Cane Corso. Most people are drawn to them because they are beautiful but some fail to realize these dogs require a strong experienced owner, with a lot of time to give to be with them and train them. They have the potential to be very dangerous if not trained early, often, or consistently. So before getting one, DO YOUR RESEARCH to realize just exactly what you are getting into. Owning this dog is a complete 180 lifestyle change.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
We started in 2019. At the beginning of 2020, we had Cane Corso Meetups set for every 2 weeks until November and then the pandemic happened. Like everyone else, we adjusted and pushed through. We are constantly looking for responsible hosts to grow and bring Cane Corso Meetups™ more often to more places.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Up until this year, everything has been self-funded. We put our own personal funds into all the events, posters, treats, websites, advertising, etc. All events have been free to attend. However this year was our first year where we charged people and vendors for attendance at our Cane Corso Meetup Prado Dog Park 2023 located in Chino California All of the money went directly back into the event.
However, we are open to donations that can be made through our PayPal. This would help us pay for our 501c3 status, tax filing, advertising, and website hosting, and more.
