We recently connected with Anastasia Fedoryaka and have shared our conversation below.
Anastasia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I love being a business owner, but it’s not always easy. I wear a lot of hats: look for clients, do readings, create video content for my YouTube channel, make astrological candles and I am about to launch an astrology course. There are often times when I feel burnt out, tired and confused. In fact, only a few days ago I was looking back at my job as video editor before the pandemic and missing the stability of a regular paycheck. Yet every time that thought comes I also remember how much I disliked crazy deadlines and other people telling me what to do. It is so freeing to work for myself. Yes, most times it is difficult and exhausting and often feels like stumbling in the dark, yet it challenges me and makes me better at the end of the day. Plus I now have the best boss!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been an astrology lover for as long as I can remember and after my father passed away in 2018, I decided to take an astrology course. Learning about planets, signs and houses opened my eyes to the cosmic truths hidden in my natal chart and brought more self-awareness and self-acceptance. I started offering readings to friends as a way of practice, launched my anastasiadoesastrology Instagram page in 2019 and quit my video editing job in 2020. Since then I have built a database with hundreds of clients, started a YouTube channel, launched a line of magical astrology candles and designed a planner. My Natal Astrology: Blueprint of the Soul course begins in May and I am really excited about that and many other things my career path may bring.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started it was hard to build my following. I remember admiring people with 2000 followers and asking how they got to that place. My account grew with me sharing posts, but it was slow. One day a Virgo meme account shared my name and I got about 70 new followers that day. The lightbulb went off and I worked hard to reach out to as many accounts in the astrology field to build relationships and start collaborations. The truth is you cannot be successful alone, so work on creating a support network that has your back and give back as much as you can by promoting them.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to release some of my self-criticism. I am a Virgo Sun, Venus and Mars and I can be very hard on myself. I used to focus a lot on the negatives. For example, one of my natal planets is in the sign of its fall and I used to worry about that and almost see it as a curse, a dark stain on the face of my chart. I noticed many clients doing that too, coming to talk about their “bad placements” and worrying that they are doomed in some shape or form. Eventually, I learned that every placement is what you make of it and that more depends on your attitude than on the placement itself. I have learned to love each part of myself and know that if I persevere and stay optimistic, even the most difficult planet can become a friend and an ally.
