We were lucky to catch up with Anastasia Eisenberg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anastasia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took a risk 3 times and looks like I’m trying myself how far I can go. The worst for me is to stay in the comfort zone. First I moved to New York and completely changed my life 6 years ago. I didn’t speak English well and everything was new for me. I realized it’s not gonna be easy. And it wasn’t. I didn’t have any connection, only one friend and zero understanding what to do next. But I’m sure you will get all what you want if you do something, just do it no matter what. And in 3 years coved happened. I had to move to Miami because it was a single state where people were able to work. And I started everything from the scratch. Now I moved to Los Angeles and I hope to stay here and grow like a professional and person here. It was more easy for me because people know me, I have some connections and I found a job immediately in Los Angeles. It’s a huge life changing for me. But I’m happy to work hard for the best life and my goals. And I would say that is not scary to start from the scratch, scary to stay in one place and do nothing.

Anastasia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started at 2014 in Russia. I used to work in tourism and had a position like development director and I had no idea how to do my own makeup. I always wanted to learn about it and I just wanted to look good. And I found a makeup school that was truly amazing. My teacher Anastasia Sannikova helped me a lot not only with makeup skills, but with the vision as well. We did photoshoots for model agencies and small local brands. I always say that makeup school is important, because I see a lot of makeup artists don’t have a strong base and they don’t understand what they are doing. For that years I worked a lot and have an experience almost everywhere in makeup industry: private client, bridal. photoshoots for brands, for magazines (Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Garazia, L’Officiel etc), red carpets and celebrities.
I have worked in 2 countries and lived in 3 different cities only in US. And can tell the marked difference.
Work with clients is pretty hard. That’s not only about your makeup skills, that’s about personal relationships, how you feel them and understand what they want. And I feel like it should be a special course about it.
Because the hardest for me was understanding that not all the clients like all the people will love you. And that’s ok, it’s not the end of the world. We just don’t match with some people in energy and that’s also ok. But the most important is to listen your client. Some clients trust you completely, some expect from you something different. There is a huge different between working for a beauty salon and to freelance. When you work freelance or with an agency, people coming to you based on what you do and your name. When you work for a beauty salon, people coming for salon’s name and expect you work in any crazy style.
That’s amazing when you are always hungry, and I remember when I said to myself “I will be proud when I see my work in Vogue magazine” and I saw, but I didn’t make me as happy as I expected. Because my standard have changed, now I want more. I don’t know when I can tell that I’m proud myself.
The main thing I want? I would say I want to change the women’s world. I want to give them feeling that they are beautiful. Because, trust me, some women even don’t know about it.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’m still working on it be honest, and now I’m challenging myself how far I can go. I know people see how many followers you have, but I would say its more important how good is you work. Be consistent in posting, give people free advice and love your audience. Don’t buy followers, it’s the biggest harm you can to your social media.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I love to reed so much. And I read a lot of business books and fiction. Because fiction may inspire you a lot. But I’m not gonna tell you about obvious books like Rich Dad Poor Dad, or The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, you all know about it. I’m just gonna tell you about books that changed my life. 1. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. That’s not a kids book at all. I recommend to read it once a year at least and you will see how it changes your mind and how every time you see the things different.
2. Heaven Has No Favorites by Erich Maria Remarque. It’s book about how important to live the whole life today and create something great every day.
3. Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. The book teaches you its normal to be “different”. And of course about no limits in life.
4. The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck by Mark Manson. Very easy book that says “Just do it”. I highly recommend this book, because we are questioning ourselves “what is my work is not perfect?” when people just doing it. Think about how \many opportunities you are loosen instead.
And here is a lost of movies I find very inspiring for me:
1. Wonder Boy. The movie about one of my fav people in fashion industry Olivier Rousteing.
2. The Intouchables. About a man quadriplegic. Every time when I’m loosing a hope or complaining I’m tired, I do rewatch it.
3. House Of Gucci. Of course.. I know the script was changed, but still movie is great.
Also Ido watch a lot YouTube Chanels created by talented makeup artists like Patrick TA, Hung Vango, Mary Philips etc. Always great to know what made them so big and how the have achieved theirs goals.
